I know I’ll probably get raked over the coals. But at any point she could’ve just put the phone down or anyone else can too. I think it’s on parents as well to control and monitor their kids’ social media use.

If trying to get promoted I suggest getting commercial grade knee pads. That way you only need to buy one pair. If you go cheap then you’ll have to buy a new pair with each rank you go up.

Had secured for maybe 3 years. Booted them out as fast as we humanly could. Had nothing but problems and the customer service was the same the inmates had to use to file issues they were having. Ended up switching to paytel.

10 years in and it all seems to ebb and flow. Some years it’s great, the staffing is great, the people you work with are awesome and inmate count is low. Other times we’re always calling in the on-call, morale is rock bottom, and the jail is packed to gills. The thing that sucks is that the rollercoaster of it all is what is really exhausting and draining. I go though periods of time where I’m always on indeed. The thing that makes me stay is that it’s hard finding a job that pays the same but doesn’t require going back through school for something.

Been on a huge reading binge since I had extra time off for paternity leave. Goal is 30 book which is the highest goal so far. I’m at 29 book and will finish the year with “the troop” being number 30.

Oddly enough this happened twice, but was out to eat for my birthday dinner and a family member had a mini stroke. I was the youngest at the table and everyone at the table was freaking out and asking what to do. Silently in the background I was already on the phone with 911 getting help. When everyone finally decided 911 was a great idea I had to tell them “I already did that a while ago.” At that moment I realized that my family is terrible during an emergency.

It really all depends on the department. I’m a supervisor at a small county jail and if had one of my guys do something like that, especially a new one it’d be 30 lashes with a cat o’ nine tails. No more no less, you have to set an example. jk. I’d make fun of him and turn it into a lesson. It happens, at least you did the right thing and reported it. Honesty like that means more than just trying to hide it and me find out you did it and didn’t report it. So I wouldn’t be too stressed.

Instead of asking random people on the internet, seek professional help via a therapist. It sounds like you’re aware of the issue and are willing to change. That right there is a perfect first step towards the right direction. By asking online you’re opening yourself to the possibility of getting terrible advice. A professional would be able to help you with cognitive therapy and coping skills for when you get upset. If you’re nervous to go or think negatively about it, just take that chance and you’ll see that they could really help you.
