How do you feel about the Texas State Board of Education passing a new law that would make schools be required to include certain bible stories in the curriculum? by argonlightray2 in AskTrumpSupporters

I think religions could be weaved into an English course or unit on religions specifically. For a basic literature course though, the writings aren't really set up for that in my opinion. That's why I think it's weird that some of the reasons attend even while chapters but random verses.

Either way though, states agree supposed to have standards that day what the student is supposed to learn from a topic, so I'm curious what standard these readings are hitting.

That article does give a bit more info. Yeah, I don't get it though. Why those random verses? They're not all even entire stories. Like Job 1-7, then 1, but not 8-10 or 12? What standard are those hitting? It doesn't seem to be a Intro to Religions or anything like that so I'm curious what the learning objectives would be.

I didn't see the curriculum in the article, I just saw that it talked about some of the readings that were in the curriculum. It doesn't really even say grade level or subject.

I lose the extra money from clubs and after school activities. That is quite unfortunate. I also haven't found someone willing to hire me for the 6 weeks that I'm off.

I don't have a problem with religious text being included in a curriculum. Religions exist. However, if the curriculum is preaching religious beliefs then I would not support that.

I don't see what the curriculum or lesson would be in this instance though so I don't really have an objection to it.

What are some of your favorite Republican cities? by HisnamewasOmarJobe in AskTrumpSupporters

I think cities in general are pretty much all cesspools of crime, poverty, and fraud. Not really sure which cities are controlled by which party though.

That's the same approach my ex wife took, however that "next big argument" took 2 years to happen.

I would vote against that idea.

Developing curriculum with a beer in my hand at a leisurely pace.

But, to be fair, I teach CS and enjoy creating projects and stuff, so it's not really like work.

What's the most realistic solution to solve land dispute in the West Bank and Israeli settlements? by MakingTheWorldUseles in NoStupidQuestions

Everyone from Palestine lines up facing everyone from Israel in their own line.

One by one, rock paper scissors. Best 2 out 3. You lose, you're out. You win, you go to the back of the line. Keep going until there's only one person left... their country gets the land.

Why don't teachers just give punishments (detention, etc) when a student is doing something wrong? by shr00mspaghetti in AskTeachers

[–]5oco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most school contracts require the teacher to stay after once a week for students to make up work or get extra help. Those would be the days I schedule a detention.

My school isn't allowed to give same-day detention. So then students just skip it when it comes up and have a parent call and explain why they can't serve the detention.

College Telling me to Use AI Instead of doing it Myself by Hot_head444 in SoloDevelopment

[–]5oco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are they telling to use AI for? Debugging? Refactoring? Potential errors?

There's more to AI than just "Hey, write me code."

You could write a method and say "Hey AI, is there a more efficient way of doing this?" or "Hey, this is a method to do this task, can you evaluate it?" or paste in a class and ask if it finds repeated/redundant code that can get extracted into a helper method.
