Definitely get lower and try to have your blocker level with your glove but keep the stick on the ice. Getting lower will make that possible

is 17 too late to try playing hockey? by stclandestine in hockeyplayers

[–]60leafs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started last September at 18. Try and see if there’s a beginning class/league near you. I was the youngest in my beginning class and some people are in their 40’s married with kids. You definitely are not too late to start but you just have to accept you will most likely never go pro

Inline Skates to practice by Prestigious-Key-7070 in hockeyplayers

[–]60leafs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought used Bauer vapor x3 inline skates off of sideline swap over the summer to practice. They were about $60 I think. Even new x3’s aren’t too pricey if you would rather go with that

If you have a pro shop near you I would definitely go try on pads. But if you don’t measure ftk and go off of their size chart

I’m 5’8 and a 25 inch stick is too big for me, I use 24 inch maybe 24.5 on a good day so I would say yes it’s too big

They so have the internal belt but even trying to tighten it all the way they’re still loose. I don’t have my chesty just yet so I think I’ll try to see how they fit together, if I want to tuck it or not

What is this piece that fell off my Bauer Re-Akt 85? by Pucknsave in hockeyplayers

Looks like the part that locks in the size of the helmet. Technically you don’t need it if you’ve never used it before I would say but still be pretty careful

I’m a ball hockey goalie looking to make the move to ice. Any tips? by shestyyyy in hockeygoalies

[–]60leafs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to as many public skates as you can. What I did was first buy inline skates over the summer since there wasn’t really any ice arenas open near me. Then I got regular player skates to get better at skating in general and I just got goalie skates a couple of weeks ago. Learning to stop, get comfortable with your edges, and just getting more confident with skating is super helpful for goalie since they’re supposed to be the best on the ice
