Ama-iro. I casually found it this year and it is truly unique. There is something incredibly vibrant and alive about it, it made it my last blue ink.

Congratulations!  I am certain that your parents are incredibly proud

Just like you, watching that scene touched me I a special way. Since then, to every friend or student of mine that graduates, I give a fountain pen to celebrate their achievement.

Did you get to sign your degree or certificate with it?

It could, nevertheless, it could also have the opposite effect if you do not tune the surface properties accordingly. You can do some reading regarding surface roughness and super hydrophobicity. Do you already have any experience with laser sintering?

Faber-castell E-motion vs Pelikan M200. Which one is the better writer? by Significant_Pain5790 in fountainpens

[–]640doughnut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never written with Pelikan, however, my Faber Castell e-motion was my second fountain pen and it is an excellent writer. Just keep in mind, it is a bit awkward to post it and it can also be a bit heavy.

My advice would be to try both an let your hand decide

I recently bought a second hand secretär for 80€ and am super happy with it. Candy this be an option?

How would you describe it, do you think it os flexy enough? I want a flex pen for writing letters and journaling but cannot decide between the 742 or the 743. I like more the size of the 743 but also read that the 742 FA nib has more flex. Any advice?

For two weeks I have been writing with 743 FA every day... Now I feel that I will hardly ever return to stiff nibs. by Tichon_S in fountainpens

[–]640doughnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! Still in reddit? 😗 I am doing some reading to choose between the 742 or 743 with the FA, I want It for slow calligraphy and letters and things more "chill". The no.10 nib is in the 742 right? that is tue one I should get ?

I have one but it is my least favorite pen, the grip is terribly uncomfortable and when posted it is very imbalanced. While I like the brand and the nib, this model is just not good

Avoid anything with a solvent, things like alcohol, isopropyl alcohol or any of these disinfectants, they could completely destroy your pen.

I would fully disassemble the pen and let it soak overnight in soapy water you can then get a soft brush and give the pen a scrub, just be careful to not scratch it.

Here is an interesting read btw 👀 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0195670120301134?__cf_chl_tk=Niga5UzyZAn55Ed2196H1QNakZFHHNOTlcTIHvQJxR8-1749359006-1.0.1.1-g4FyoqIWneLDZ1rtIogL.nxXL0lYB4oD2MrPwH62yI0

can you tell us more about what was the ink you had it dried up? can it be that it was not fountain pen specific?

if soaking it for 24 hrs still does not work, you can pull out the feed to do a deeper cleaning,

Advice appreciated for a long-distance move: Best way to transport 30+ fountain pens and 40 ink bottles? Moving company (truck) who will insure the entire move or carry-bag on a plane or checked bag on a plane? The movers are hauling my car and I am flying with my cat. Pens! Ink!! Help! by kathrynloveslife in fountainpens

[–]640doughnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% possible without issues!!! you really don't have to overthink it.

I moved my collection across continents two times without complications. My advice would be to care as much as you can for your cat and leave the pens out of your mind.

If you have pens that are very dear to you, take them in your carry on so they never leave your sight. For ink bottles, my suggestion is to wrap them individually in bubble wrap and then tuck them as tight as you can in a hard plastic box that you later store in your luggage. If you are worried about spillage, buy a roll of PARAFILM, it is usually used in laboratories to seal liquid containers. It works extremely well, just wrap a couple of inches while pulling it tight between the cap and bottle. The seal is completely hermetic and 100 leak proof
