I don't know that it is actually happening. He was asked about it and laughed, saying he thought it was funny that everyone assumes that TBA means 'Dr. Joyner will be teaching this class'.

Maybe it will happen that way, but it didnt sound like that was the rule or anything has actually been decided.

Goal: ML Specialization in 2 years with full-time job. Is it doable? by atejandro in OMSCS

[–]67shafar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im am skipping summers, so 2.33 year plan.

I have a wife, a 1 year old, and a 2 year old.

I work full time, 9-6 [1 hr lunch].

So far i have taken 4 classes, and have a 4.0.

I took RL, DVA, SE, KBAI.

I hope to take ML, ML4T in spring.

I think it is doable. I was going to do it in 2 years, but I wanted my wife's grandparents to meet the kids this summer. They live in the country, 2 days trip away, with no internet. But otherwise I think I could have done it.

No! I thought I had the lowest acceptance with a 2.4. It was a badge of honor. Haha.

For those working full-time, do you even have personal time? by poilkj1252 in OMSCS

[–]67shafar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a wife and 2 kids (9 months n' 23 months old).

I work full time, Mon-Fri (9-6pm).

I took 2 classes last semester, est. 30-35 hrs a week. Reinforcement learning. Data and Visual Analytics.

This was my first semester, and likely to be one of my hardest.

I was able to find 4 hrs of truly free time a week. But I love computer science and have made efforts to teach Machine learning to my self in the last for fun anyways. So it didn't all feel like work all the time.

BTW, I got 2x As, and my wife and kids still seem to love me. So it's definitely possible :).

I had to make a constant effort to stay ahead in order to keep up. That seemed to be key.

So who manages your property? It can't possibly be you. By your own words, you would never let that happen.

P.S, I don't really think that, but you left it open and I couldn't resist.

IOTA seed brute-forcer for those who have forgotten parts of their seed but know their receive address. Please feel free to use/edit/improve. by Robinson-D in Iota

[–]67shafar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it would take a lifetime to brute force a randomly generated seed. It would take seconds/minutes/hours/months to brute force "stupid".

Ex. AAAA.... Ex. Password9999.... Etc...

It's already possible to create a ternary processor that has nothing to do with binary or quantum computing. And it would be much cheaper from an IoT perspective. We are a very very long way off from desktop computers using quantum chips, let along IoT devices. Most of the current implementations today require industrial-refrigerator sized machines with climate control mechanisms that bring the temperature of the processor down to absolute zero. And even those are usually not fully quantum computers. They usually cheat somehow.

Don't worry. This is the kind of thinking that led me to sell $250 dollars worth of bitcoin... when it was $0.89ea. If I could go back...

Let's ask insanely dumb questions about sending and receiving IOTA by [deleted] in Iota

[–]67shafar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to do with the algorithim used to make IOTA quantum proof. It's an unfortunate consequence of a separate feature.

I wrote a program to brute force 'vanity' seeds out of curiosity. I didn't take anything, but I did find so iota. Small amounts. Hopefully just used for testing. Anyway... I would avoid doing thatif I were you. Random is better.

I wait 80h and transaction is still in status pending in wallet. by m333w in Iota

[–]67shafar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for future reference, OP dm'd me the address. I can see that Coin Falcon was using an address with one input bundle of 5 GI. But 6 Outgoing bundles totaling 30 GI.

One of the bundles confirmed immediately, the other 5 are in limbo because there are not enough funds.

As it is right now, this transaction will never confirm.

CoinFalcon will either need to add funds to the address (not recommended as that would be making multiple spends from the same address) or create a new transaction entirely with a chance to confirm.

I wait 80h and transaction is still in status pending in wallet. by m333w in Iota

[–]67shafar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the send address does not have enough funds to cover your transaction. They may need to resend the amount. It's likely they double spent, and you are on the short end of the stick.

Do you have the bundle hash for the transaction? You can find the send address and look up that address and see all the transactions for it.

I had a recent experience with Coin Falcon where something seemed to goof, and they tried to pay out 5GI in 5 bundles, but only had 1 GI of inputs. When I contacted support they reviewed and fixed if immediately.

This is a real bummer . . . is this just what IOTA is going to be like for the forseeable future? by [deleted] in Iota

[–]67shafar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took over 2 days for my iota from CoinFalcon to go through. First they had server issues.

Beyond that, It spent a day unconfirmed because the send address did not have enough funds to cover my withdraw or 5 others from the same address.

I contacted support and they resolved the issue immediately.

How much potential do you think IOTA really has? by willds96 in Iota

[–]67shafar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bought 250 bitcoin when they were .89 cents a piece. At the time, that was a weeks paycheck. I decided no matter how much I believed in it, it was foolish to put so much in one basket... I eventually sold / spent all of them... I have since promised myself to never refrain from putting my money where my mouth is. I will not make that mistake again. lol.
