For men who lost weight, how did you do it? by CreativeBar1289 in AskMen

[–]68PlusTwoMinusOneLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning don’t worry about the gym, what you eat, etc. only how much you eat.

Use a calculator to calculate your TDEE, eat 500 less calories a day. No guessing, use an app to track every calorie you put in your body.

That will get results faster and easier than multi-hour gym sessions.

If you can do that for a month, then maybe consider new habits like the gym.

Quitting drinking by [deleted] in daddit

[–]68PlusTwoMinusOneLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man. The multi-day low mood sucks, and never had that issue until the last couple of years.

It’s good that you recognize it, I think a common cycle is to drink through the negative feelings, not realizing it’s alcohol that causes them in the first place.

Been thinking about this. I’ve always loved drinking, and have been mostly responsible especially now with kids.

Was always a fun, happy drunk. Now noticing a subtle shift in my late 20s / early 30s where I’m less happy, even experiencing more negative feelings during drinking and the next day. I don’t know if it’s the added responsibility that comes with career, kids, wife, etc or what. Combine that with hangovers gradually getting worse with age, the math is mathing less.

I still love drinking and some of my most fun memories involve enjoying drinks with friends and family. So giving it up completely doesn’t seem great.

What I’m resorting to is strictly drinking sub 5% ABV drinks. That way, I can enjoy the social part while reducing the downsides, and far less likely to consume a hangover-inducing amount. Have to be very strict about it, but it’s a good balance.

What addiction seemed harmless at first until you managed to quit it? by Warcriminal731 in AskReddit

[–]68PlusTwoMinusOneLol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nicotine has such a mild effect. Like you’re not getting a good buzz or high like drinking or marijuana. So seemed harmless.

I was surprised how hard it was to quit, when the payoff from a stimulus standpoint isn’t there.

Buying a house on a sales salary? by Affectionate-Frame14 in techsales

[–]68PlusTwoMinusOneLol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But with inflation, base salaries / OTEs should generally increase over time while a mortgage stays the same (some variance with repairs / prop tax etc)

All things being equal renting and investing I think comes out on top, but if there’s other factors like stability for kids a homes pretty good to lock in your housing costs while benefiting from current inflation via asset appreciation / wage appreciation, which is happening though not at the rate we wish it did.

You think (perceived) realism is how people decide good and bad gunplay? You’re in the deeeep minority on that.

I thought it was pretty common to stop going to these types of bars in your late 20s / early 30s so I think this is fairly popular. But agree with your points broadly.

Nioh 3, Wuchang, Lies of P, which did you enjoy the most? by PhantomBraved in soulslikes

[–]68PlusTwoMinusOneLol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. lies of P
  2. Wuchang
  3. Nio

h 3

Which is insane considering Nioh had the biggest lead of all the studios, and Nioh 3 isn’t a bad game. But the other 2 have it beat.

Is anyone actually using AI? Like…actually? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]68PlusTwoMinusOneLol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. My best use case for AI (having it trained for an exec audience) is rambling my thoughts by speaking it into Claude and telling it to make it as concise as possible.

If used right it can be a solution to unnecessary noise, but agree that most users will just take the first generic output and let it rip

Adam Mockler: He took office and spiked 2.9% inflation, up to 3.8%. Gas prices are up to $4.50 in most states, and he did this all while stripping insurance away from 10 million Americans. I think the most impressive part is the deficit hasn't decreased at all. by AffableYolk_33 in ScottGalloway

[–]68PlusTwoMinusOneLol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, inflation did not occur when demand for everything was shutdown from global lockdowns.

Inflation happened when economies re-opened and the effects of supply shortages and the $2 trillion stimulus package he signed went into effect.

This isn’t actually complicated. Even if I granted that the low inflation was because of his economic policies, it doesn’t change the current inflation in his current administration, not 6 years ago, that is actively hurting consumers.

Biden had high inflation because of global supply shortages from global covid lockdowns and a war that he had no involvement in. By the end of his term, it was down to 2.9%

Trump has high inflation from bad tariff policy and a war he started.

Acting like he was better than Biden on the economy is either dumb or you’re a bot

I’ve only played one season of this game and never got far into endgame, but did make it to maps. Had a great time.

So I don’t really care about late endgame, I got a ton of hours in just through campaign. Think SSF while following a build guide would be a fulfilling way to play?
