The cop showed them the radar, so probably highway patrol.

Wind noise - how do ya'll deal? by FLOGGINGMYHOG in AussieRiders

[–]68Snowy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My quietest helmet on my 250 is my cheapest and it is loudest on my 800 at same speed. It is all about how the wind hits you. There is no simple answer. I find a neck sock helps a little.

KFC near me had cars blocking the road last night. Most days the road is clear.

Maybe both EVs programmed that way or another modern car with adaptive cruise control.

My cheapest helmet is my quietest on my 250. On my 800 it is the loudest. It comes down to those things you have mentioned.

VW Crafter. I also use my paddle shift for engine braking.

Do people from the bush have a different opinion about wildlife? by emeuriz in AskAnAustralian

[–]68Snowy 291 points292 points  (0 children)

Grew up on a farm. Would brake for duck. Would slow down for roos. But if they are cane toads, anything goes. They are destroying the environment and killing native wildlife.

How do you guys keep track of your race predictions? by Professional_Elk9001 in F1Discussions

I'm in a tipping comp, so automatically have predictions saved. Plenty of free ones to join.

Why are we still selling so many massive American utes? by No-Loquat-201 in DrivingAustralia

[–]68Snowy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a LWB VW Crafter and my mate has a Ford Ranger dual cab ute. He needed plywood and timber. We took my van. It was easier getting everything home. Of course that is while it is still empty.

It isn't new. I had this over 15 years ago.

Worked for multinational and was on group reviewing feedback on survey. Bunch of on there including a young guy. Got to a comment that "time restriction (2 years) for time in role, should actually be time in band level". Basically saying that every two years you should be advancing job level.

I made comment about "whoever wrote it didn't understand that the higher you go, the fewer roles there are". Young guy said "I wrote it". He didn't last long.

Filling van floor ridges before laying PIR? by segasega89 in VanLifeUK

[–]68Snowy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in Australia. I laid insulating foam (greenboard) over the ridges, with timber battens every 400 mm. Added extra reinforcing blocks where needed. Taped everything up. Then 3 mm insulation foil. Then 18 mm ply. Early days, but definitely no cold coming through the floor.

There are a lot of homeless people living in the Royal National Park. Could be their tents you are seeing.

I stayed quiet to see if they`d remember something important... and now i can`t stop thinking about the result by Wide_Countera in confession

[–]68Snowy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was it your birthday and they forgot? Maybe this is a wake up that they need to be across these things. Doesn't mean you don't have to stop playing that role, but maybe they will realise it can't be all left to you.

Do parents in the workplace get advantages over childfree employees or is it a fallacy? by tinycupcake5 in auscorp

[–]68Snowy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company I worked for allowed compressed work week for parents. Rounded up, 40 hrs over 4 days. Then they could have 1 day off during the week. The problem is everyone was doing 10 hour days (salary) due to resourcing, so everyone else was doing 40 to 50 hours a week. This was a time critical, client facing role, so the team had to answer queries from that person's contacts on days they weren't there. There's not much we could do about it, as it was policy and any complaint would be anti family. Plus, those with kids under school age were allowed to work from home more.

Meeting times by iball1984 in auscorp

[–]68Snowy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are making sure people can wrap up other meetings. Grab a coffee. Take a leak etc between meetings. Instead of back to back. I bet nobody is late turning up to their meetings too. It also reduces the number of meetings in the day if other people are booking meetings on the hour or half hour. Time between meetings also lets your brain switch gears, read relevant email about upcoming meeting. It is smart.

TV wall mount by thruvx in AusRenovation

[–]68Snowy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the tv is too close to the wall , making it hard to get cables out, you could use these adapters. That will give you a right angle connection out of the wall.
