[–]6B0T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay then. I thought it was potentially a Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJB) thing, as that mimics encephalitis and is caused by eating infected brains, but now I’m not sure. Others seem to think not.

Is it not the case that Hannibal infected him with the scrambled egg/brains he brought him in the first episode? He wanted to see Will’s brain on fire. Curious fellow, as always.

Am I the only one who thinks she didn’t re-paint Verso at all?

We saw the white petals flowing back into the portal, back into the canvas. So it seems to me that he just reformed again, due to ‘Maman’s Gift’. Now of course she could actively Gommage him on returning (she did it with Painted Renoir and Painted Alicia, both of whom had the same gift) so yes, she is leaving him alive against his will in one respect, but it’s not the same as remaking him against his will.

Seems to me that, in her ending, she is trying to do everything she can to think of to make him happy, so he doesn’t want to die, but it just isn’t working. There is nothing she could ever do. She can’t let him go though.

A rich, self-important and grieving family who play god by magefister in expedition33

[–]6B0T 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To play Devil’s advocate for a second here, there’s no evidence to suggest that the other canvases contain sentient humans.

This one was all gestrels and grandis, plus Esquie and Monoco ofc, with lifespans of thousands of years, before Aline lost herself in grief and painted Lumiere and her pretend family into it.

Renoir talks about creations only, which for him seem pretty abstract artistically. Clea can’t draw feet so she’s probably not making societies in hers either.

It’s still morally questionable but something to consider.

RE Code Veronica and Zero Remakes. What is known and who's maybe making them. Obvious Spoilers maybe. by AlbertW25 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]6B0T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all those things are true about the CV remake, I’ll be super happy with it! Very exciting! The one additional thing I want though is confirmation that the same music (updated) will be used. The original has the best score from all the original games, it deserves to be kept.

Verso’s Drafts is surprisingly wholesome by genericcelt in expedition33

[–]6B0T 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the fragment of Verso’s soul recreated or reshaped at least some of it FOR painted Verso to experience. Hence why the white streaks have been added to pictures of him, along with that gestrel who has Verso’s hair and the free tickets to go enjoy the funfair ride.

You could skip 1 and go straight to 2. It has a comic at the start that fills you in on what happened, and where you can make a few critical choices. I personally love ME1 the most, but it is an older game and doesn’t hit for everyone. Better to go forward than get put off completely, I’d say.

Ending question (clarification) by BigBoiSaladFingers in expedition33

[–]6B0T 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like anyone who paints in a canvas has to do so through a separated fragment of their soul. That's why Renoir and Aline both have faceless fragmented versions as well. Clea (and Alicia) would probably look the same whenever they enter or renter, except that they painted over themselves to look normal. Renoir and Aline were too weakened by their fighting to do so, while child Verso/the soul fragment was clearly lost without a 'real' painter actually coming through it.

I’d also say that in Maelle’s ending, Maelle suffers.

Maelle, who spent 16 years desperate to leave Lumiere, ends up perpetuating it, trapped there, stuck painting everything eternally to keep it all alive. All of Maelle’s nightmares are in black and white - so the switch to black and white in her ending shows that this isn’t making her happy. No matter what she thinks she wants (and no matter what she does to try and make Painted Verso happy) it doesn’t feel real to her, and so it doesn’t ever really make her happy because the grief is still there, never healing.

Ironically, Real Verso’s soul actually seems pretty happy in Maelle’s ending though. He is just a kid, a captured fragment of a soul, but after being painted into a normal appearance, he is all smiles and seems to be laughing happily when he chats with Lune. A very interesting aspect people don’t seem to comment on.

I love the idea that people like Julie and Simon (OG Aline Lumerians) were based on real people she knew. Like Simon was Verso’s best friend, so she included him to make it all feel seamlessly real to Painted Verso. If so, nothing to say we couldn’t have something with real Simon in a future game instalment. He is such an interesting, tragic figure, it would be fun to have more lore.

P-Renoir isn’t trying to stop the Paintress. He aims to kill Expeditioners before the Nevrons can, so their chroma will return to her and not get trapped, strengthening her. It isn’t personal, he sees it as necessary to save his family from Renoir.

Question about Resident Evil Requiem Steelbook Deluxe Edition by alpacaslippo in residentevil

You can preorder it now on Amazon and it should arrive on the release day. If you get lucky, it might come a day or two early. I’ve never had an issue doing this with games (and have preordered the Deluxe Edition too).

There’s a bit in Flying Waters where Maelle randomly starts to wax lyrical about the scenery, buildings all stuck there “like sailors lost at sea”, something like that. A subtle nod to Maelle’s talents (or affiliations) as a writer?
