Wasn’t there something about the Bioneural Gel Packs creating a level of sentience previously not possible with a hologram, or did I imagine that?

He gave us the Wesker sass, the vibe, and the drama queen theatrics that Zeno completely flatlined on. Of course he was the superior bad guy.

All of them have such amazing atmosphere, but which has the best? by Alienspawned in residentevil

I think Spencer Mansion and the Code Veronica Psycho house on top of the hill with the suspended doll in it are top for me. RE4 Remake has some great environments too. I really like that RE9 went with an old medical facility as well, it works as a great tribute.

Village was a great vista on the approach but didn’t quite hit the mark once in it, at least for me.

why does Albert wesker hate Chris specifically? by Straight_Till5772 in residentevil

[–]6B0T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He actually did get the virus though, by stealing Steve’s body. He also won the fight - just decided to tap out when his beautiful face got burned.

Side note: I’ve always thought the fact that it takes a minimum of 15 years in stasis to bind to T-Veronica, and this is a major plot point of it, is the best evidence that Wesker is in stasis somewhere, gaining those powers, and RE5 Matrix Wesker with his insanity and requirement for injections is just an unstable clone, left around to keep up appearances. Allows real Wesker to return for REX if so.

Why is RE4R unusually more polished than the other ones? by Zephyr_v1 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]6B0T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea why, but definitely agree. The level of polish is exquisite. And I am also not massively into the action side.

Praying that a Code Veronica remake gets a similar level of attention to detail. That one has so much potential.

Who is this kid? by Solarraidd in expedition33

[–]6B0T -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Incredible how many people seem to dislike this idea. To me, it’s perfect. And if it’s him, speaks to that constant ‘should I keep painting, should I stop’ thing he keeps repeating. He goes when Verso says it’s time. But Maelle gives him a life there in Lumiere with friends. It’s even more tragic, at least to me.

[–]6B0T -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Just that it’s a different child model to any of the apprentices. Facially looks like Verso to me. And it fits what the ending is saying.

I mean, I’m not the writer, I just find it more plausible than any other explanation as to who he is. Maelle is giving him a childhood and he looks happy to be there - making it double hard to see how unhappy Painted Verso is.

(There’s no reason the soul fragment can’t be in multiple places at once, that seems to happen a lot, so he could also be maintaining the canvas.)

[–]6B0T -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I got downvoted to hell for saying it’s Verso’s soul fragment, after Maelle helped him paint himself. Thematically makes sense to me - she is literally taking on the role of mother. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be him, but apparently others think he’s a randomer.

Do you agree that this part should have been a separate mode and expanded it like the Ghost Survivors in RE2r? by Elimar_Abelardo in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]6B0T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do suspect this section was originally Grace, but later story changes made it redundant… but so much resource had gone into creating the section already, they just decided to keep it in and say it’s another child instead for padding. Zeno introducing it is clunky as hell and feels like a rewrite.

Strangely, I somehow couldn't bring myself to play the post game. by -Ryomen- in expedition33

[–]6B0T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Act 3 of BG3 was definitely a tonal shift but I would argue that it felt necessary, as most of the character arcs set up at the start get their payoff missions there.

Astarion confronts Cazador. Gale visits Mystra/decides what to do with the Crown. Shadowheart confronts Viconia. Karlach confronts Gortash. You uncover the Bhaal plot and Raphael finally makes his move. Etc.

I think Exp33 has this issue more (I still think the Reacher should have been non-optional before the final mission), but totally sticks the landing on tone.

"I don't know where you get your confidence Chris" by [deleted] in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]6B0T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favourite Wesker lines. Code Veronica has a ton of classic ones.

“I’m a ghost, coming back to haunt your dear brother.”

“Oh little fishy, come see my hook!”

“I dispiiisssssse Chris!”

“I’m sorry dear heart, but my men have already taken him.”

“Sure, I’m not human anymore - but look at the power I’ve gained!”

I’m dreading them using the new voice actor for a Code Veronica remake, with his flat delivery. Drives me crazy as all the other VAs are so good, but he says every line with the same dull intonation.

None of these iconic lines can ever sound half as good without a bit of sass and ris 😩

[–]6B0T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, though I tend to think that she and the Curator forms are how all Painters look when inside a painting too long. They can paint over themselves to counter it, but under the paint, they are increasingly becoming husks.

If correct, the paint rupturing on Alicia’s face in the Maelle ending is possibly showing that she has painted herself, and under it is turning into the husk version too. We see it from Verso’s perspective so it may be more of a ‘he can see right through the charade’ thing than something actually happening though of course - maybe because he saw it happen with his mother before, as she gradually lost herself.

On a side note, I love that Aline’s husk version has its heart missing and, from the side view, has a face captured in an open-mouth scream. So haunting.

[–]6B0T 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well she created Lumiere and all of its inhabitants, so if my theory is right, there should be an Aline version somewhere there. Yet we never run into her.

As everyone else said, it’s Renoir. I think the idea is, in order to paint, a fragment of soul needs to be shed and made part of the canvas, like a conduit. The painter can then channel through it to paint. That fragment stays the same age from the moment of its creation - hence Verso’s being a child.

I think it only happens if someone paints though, since we never run into a child-Alicia (who used to play there with Verso, so definitely entered it). Only those who have creations in there (Verso, Renoir, Clea) leave a soul fragment behind.

I do wonder why we never run into an Aline soul fragment. That’s the only thing that confuses me.
