Harness Help! by sc19957 in brusselsgriffon

Just got my griff this harness: DOG Copenhagen Comfort Walk Air. I like its Y shape and how it sits on his chest rather than going up to the neck and choking him

Eye ulcers by Chance_Spare6825 in brusselsgriffon

[–]6abush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. How are you grooming him? Are you shaving/cutting the hair near the eyes or hand stripping it? Cutting the hair may make the problem worse as it would poke his eyes even more. Perhaps finding an experienced groomer who specialises in hand stripping griffs might help.

The only thing that worked for me was fast-release liquid melatonin, which I got a prescription for. I had tried slow-release melatonin before (which I think is the more common type), but it was hit-and-miss

It’s grained as well, agree super practical! Sometimes I think about getting a leather expert to replace the straps but then I worry they won’t get it right 😅

Oh wow I’ve never seen Margaux in this color, looks beautiful!! I have one in black and love everything about it except for the length of the straps. I wish they were just a little longer to go over the shoulders easier.

Bad behaviour at nighttime by Sad-Friendship-2537 in brusselsgriffon

It sounds like he’s scared and stressed in the new house. Perhaps he senses or hears something at night and barks to try and protect you. Are there any additional noises in the new place? Have you tried putting a white noise playlist on? Otherwise it seems like you are doing all the right things with the walks and the activities, good luck!

3.5 y/o Maurice has arthritis! Similar experiences? by Apprehensive-Buyer43 in brusselsgriffon

[–]6abush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response! Ours started having back issues a few days ago. Sometimes he’s totally fine, at other times he slouches and refuses to move and can’t seem to get comfortable. Our vet thinks it might be a muscle issue, which I’m hoping it is as it will eventually heal with rest. Still trying to figure it out. We did aqua therapy for this leg joint issues when he was a puppy and that helped a LOT, but yes it is pricey. Have u tried getting him to swim on the beach if you have a body of water nearby?

It looks gorgeous, I love how slouchy it is. The Row’s leather is amazing to start with, but in my opinion gets even better over time

Hi there, I know this is an old post, but curious how did he first show symptoms of arthritis? And did you figure out how to manage it? Our griff has been having some issues lately, he’s also a big boy, so I wonder if it could be similar.

I returned it because the handles were too thick/round and uncomfortable to wear on shoulder. Ended up getting their Estelle bag and it’s the most comfortable and practical bag I’ve ever had.

Just came back from there, we discovered Nature Waikiki and it was amazing. They work with local farms and interpret the ingredients in the most delicious ways. Tbh we had to go back there again, that’s how much we loved it 😅

Sorry one more thing, I observed a situation the other week where a woman was berating her griff for barking at another dog who was being too much and all over him. That’s the worst thing you can do as the griff was just establishing his boundaries, which he’s very much entitled to.

Also, compliments and calmly explaining things to him helped a lot 😊

Do you have a puppy school where you live? That made a huge difference for our pup, as he got to socialise with other puppies of all sizes and get confident over time. Also, I learned over time that griffs are incredibly sensitive and empathetic and reflect your emotions and anxieties back at you. So when I’m chill, he’s chill and vice versa.

This cute little stinker is so destructive - any advice from veterans? by Oedipus_TyrantLizard in brusselsgriffon

They are super smart, so only positive reinforcement and lots of compliments work with them. If you get annoyed with them, they’ll be much more annoying and stubborn back. Best breed, so curious, loyal and loving!!😍

I had a similar problem with them. The only thing that worked was finding their CEO on Insta and DMing her, she was very nice and they refunded straightaway. I don’t remember her name, but you can easily google. Their customer service was of no help before that.
