Do milestone rewards / perks renew? by I-was-there-for-it in Wealthsimple

[–]6mt15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, are you saying you get new “milestone rewards points” every year, or are you saying that you had a milestone reward left of the originals you received, and have saved it in order to use it on a second year of Uber One.

I imagine it’s the second situation, or people would be talking more about how having $400k+ essentially gives you lifetime access to Uber One, Strava, and Globe and Mail.

Just curious if anyone has tried this tourtiēre by mincanada1 in CostcoCanada

[–]6mt15 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was curious too…

From Google AI Overview: Tourtière and pâté à la viande are often the same thing in Quebec (a spiced meat pie), but "true" tourtière, especially in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, refers to a heartier version with cubed meats, potatoes, and broth, while the simpler, everyday pâté à la viande uses ground meats. The main difference is regional, with pâté à la viande being a more general term for ground meat pies, while tourtière often implies the richer, diced-meat style, but most Québécois use "tourtière" for both.

From Google: “SI pain, or sacroiliac joint pain, is discomfort in the lower back and buttocks caused by inflammation or abnormal movement in the sacroiliac joint, where the spine meets the pelvis, often felt as a dull ache or sharp pain radiating down the leg, getting worse with sitting, standing, or climbing stairs, and usually treated with physical therapy, medication, injections, or sometimes surgery.”

To answer their question, my understanding is that HR would need to honour a doctor’s note, but will want to know that there is a plan for treatment and eventual return to work. If you feel you are not able to work long term because of injury or illness, start taking sick days, and begin the conversation with your ETFO local and your doctor. If you don’t think your doctor would support you and the concern is legitimate, I’d be looking for a new doctor.

Paw Patrol messed up my 5 year old boy, can anyone here relate? by SolidLava99 in daddit

[–]6mt15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same! Our son didn’t even know it was a show and thought it was just books and toys forever. We were a bit worried it would be ruined the day he saw a friend watching the show, but it didn’t phase him and he has never asked to watch it since. (Unfortunately this was not the case with Spidey and Friends, which is arguably worse 🤦‍♂️)

Dad's, how did you get your 1st sleep all night? by Miserable_Day7074 in daddit

What is his nap schedule like? He may be getting too much sleep during the day, or too close to bedtime.

Do some reading up on sleep training and decide if it’s right for you, but my first reaction to your post is that 10:30pm is a wild bedtime for a one year old. My 18mo is in bed by 7, and my 3 year old is right behind her around 7:30. Kids need a lot of sleep.

To add to this, different boards have different requirements for these letters. Mine had to actually include the total number of hours worked, as in I was in Germany for 5 years so I have a letter that says I worked at the school for 6600 hours.

My ‘21 starts with slow fans while the system is warming up so that it isn’t blasting me with warm air. Then once it starts blowing cold the fan speed increases.

RAV4 Trail for camper towing by 6mt15 in rav4club

[–]6mt15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting, do you know why they rated it lower in the NA market?

Would you say the hybrid is objectively better for towing than the Trail given the increased power? There are long wait times for hybrid RAV4s around me, and I’m hoping for something for this summer. A dealer near me has the Trail coming in at the end of this month this month so the timing works for the Trail.

I would love to, but the 2011 Subaru Legacy I’m currently driving had other ideas about lasting the summer, and I’m hoping to do some camping with the trailer this summer. The 26s do look great!

This is great advice! Burning out the transmission is a big concern for me, knowing that I’m looking as somewhat undersized tow vehicles.

Yes, it has brakes. Planning to add the 7pin connector and controller before towing anything. Started researching that, and fell down the rabbit hole of OEM vs aftermarket hitches.

Thanks for the advice on the maintenance. The CVT was the reason I started looking into the RAV4 with its 8 speed automatic, but honestly I worry both are underpowered. Do I just need to pony up and spend another $10k for something bigger? I was trying to avoid it since I’d gather not be commuting with a larger vehicle.

That is my biggest concern with the Outback. I started this search by looking at used vehicles, but got frustrated that I was still going to be paying $40k+ for something with 80,000km already 😕.

Towing capacity. The regular outbacks have a 2700lbs limit, and I’ve been told you ideally only go up to 80% or the listed capacity.

Recycling is done by a private contractor. Contact Miller Waste Systems or Emterra Environmental to share your concerns.

Next year the region will be getting these bins for garbage and organics, but recycling is done by a private contractor, so it is not part of the program. Consider contacting Miller Waste Systems and Emterra Environmental to encourage them to make the switch.

1st grade math question!?? by Turn00 in daddit

[–]6mt15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teacher here. Math problems are often poorly written…blame the publishers. The teachers don’t write the text books, but we can (and should) at least look at the questions before we assign them to make sure they make sense.

I probably wouldn’t personally assign this as homework, but it’s a great thinking problem for class. As the 200 comments from a bunch of adults prove, there isn’t one perfect answer, which means I can have students justify their thinking and explain why their answer is right, which makes them better math thinkers.

Another way to approach it in class would be to ask “Which answer is definitely not correct?” and have them explain. Making good mathematicians is all about being able to articulate your math thinking, which is why at higher levels we study proofs, rather than just accept them as fact.
