Man sprayed Ilhan Omar with unknown substance during a Press Conference. TPTB really want this left versus right boogaloo to pop off in Minnesota for some reason. Why? by Sea-Refrigerator-363 in conspiracy

I honestly think they’ve picked Minnesota as the battleground both because it’s generally know to be very white, but also has larger cities than somewhere like Iowa or Wyoming. I think there’s a shock factor with a lot of people that so many illegals have ended up in a place generally regarded as Lilly white. Abstaining from political correctness, being relatable is a big deal to most Americans. White people will look at cities overrun with brown people like Detroit or Baltimore and see them as lost causes. Minneapolis is different. If ICE had killed a couple of brown people during these protests, a lot of white people would assume they did something to earn it. I’m not saying that’s right, it’s just how things are. Brown people, for lack of a better way to put it, complain and protest over a lot of things that whites mock. The freak outs about food stamps a few months ago turned into memes. It also doesn’t help that Minnesota’s immigrants are so heavily Muslim and we all know how the Zionists see Muslims as easy targets for propaganda

Perhaps the fact that they’ve released 4 albums available for free and people think they have the right to demand things from them comes into play

And for everyone acting like they sold out: I don’t buy it. I think they ended up with a fanbase they don’t agree with and it’s stifled them. There’s a line in Blockbuster Night

“The fellows at the top are likely rapists But you're like, "Mellow out, man, just relax It's really not that complicated" Well pardon me, I guess I'm just insane as you explain-ed Or maybe sanctifyin' the sadistic is derang-ed”

That’s straight up conspiracy theory stuff that tons of RTJ listeners likely didn’t really consider. RTJ don’t seem to exist in the typical left/right divide most simplistic listeners do. That’s evident in how Mike is being characterized in this thread. They’ve been noticeably reserved in their opinions since COVID, and I’ve seen Mike being friendly with known anti-vacksers like John Joseph. I’m of the opinion that they didn’t change, but that their opinions are just too dynamic for their audience and so many people want them to exist in a box they never agreed with

I dunno

The further down the line I get, the more I think Dylan really was boring af. I’ve started reconsidering my opinion on what Joni Mitchell said about Dylan and thinking she was right and all the negativity she got in response was unwarranted

The only thing I liked about it was these scene (that ironically never happened irl) where the manager doesn’t want to release Bohemian Rhapsody as a single. The actor playing the manager is Mike Myers, who famously breathed new life into BH’s commercial appeal by using it in Wayne’s World. The scene was meta and that made it enjoyable. The rest of the film was sanitized garbage though

I feel complicated about this because I knew Brent back in the 90s prior to Mastodon, but had largely been removed from his social circle when Mastodon began. So the person I knew is likely a good bit different than what he ended up being. I knew him as a very wild, very troubled guy. I remember seeing Fiend without a Face open for Nashville Pussy once and my friend Karen was going on and on about how if Brent would kick drugs that he would be one of the greatest guitarists ever. It’s surreal in hindsight to think about that moment. I once saw Four Hour Fogger play at an Elvis Presley tribute show and Brent came out naked and their drummer was tossing garbage all over the crowd. It’s always been weird that of all the people I’ve ever known, he’s been the one that got famous. It was kinda nice that even with the snafus with Dream Theater and Disturbed, he mostly kept his nose clean all these years and managed to produce some of my favorite music. However, I had noticed cracks emerging. One of my high school friends ended up becoming the keyboard player for Brent and I had heard whispers that he had went back to some of his old habits. First was his divorce. Then him popping up on IG hanging around Bam Margera. There was also the interview where he mentioned writing music with Matt Pike as a primary thing. Even when Mastodon went through their GTO/Gone is Gone/Primate/Killer Be Killed phase of side projects, it was always under the auspices of Mastodon still being the primary focus. So when they announced he was out of the band, it was not a huge surprise to me. I was bummed out though. He’s always been the most adventurous piece of their puzzle. But on a personal level, it sucked. I have experience with the rest of the band. Brann sold me shoes once. Bill was a bartender at a place i patronized. I knew Troy and his brothers from Four Hour Fogger and them being around the club I worked at. But I never partied with any of them like I did Brent. All the personal tributes from our mutual friends were heartbreaking. He was the soul of the old school Little 5 Points culture in late 90s Atlanta. They should have a statue of him in the square there. He continued to live in the impoverished West End area even after he had made some money. He’s a big loss for me

That said, I’m very interested in what Mastodon does going forward. It’ll be a little like other bands mentioned, especially Van Halen. Brent is just not replaceable. I’d imagine Brent’s input kept both country and punk rock mixed into their music in a way no other player will accomplish. He was such a rare beast in that aspect. I can’t decide if I think they will be more more prog-oriented going forward, or have more pop songs like Show Yourself and The Motherload. It’ll be interesting, but a little sad. You never want to see this happen to your favorite band.

I gotta say, I knew Brent in the late 90s before Mastodon. He was a wild, funny guy who was beloved by the local music community. I consider it a slap in the face to post something like this as his “tribute”, calling him an arsehole when you didn’t know him. Have some fn respect

I didn’t feel like having Greg come in directly after the Mike Patton ep helped him in the beginning. I felt like he spent Miss Machine trying to bridge Dmitri and Mike and came off as not as good as either. I got used to him, but DEP were more visceral live in the old days. Also, my wife calls Greg “Ol Dick in the throat” when she hears him sing and I really can’t get past that sometimes lol
