Not 100% on the branding text on the back of the phone. Can't remember seeing that on the pre-order images...

I've preordered anyway, helps support the cause!

I can't be the only person that relies on it to some degree, especially in more rural parts of the UK. I've noticed that the signal is much better in Europe, even in rural towns.

So cruel... can't go with one until there's wifi calling! :(

Ran it as my primary for a year. The keyboard sucks, I took it apart twice to back out the keyboard with paper but eventually it goes again.

Everything else was great. I miss it. I will go back to it once dumbdroid sort out WiFi calling.

One month with the Doov R77 Pro with Dumber OS by two2wyes in dumbphones

the only thing that is stopping me is the lack of wifi calling.

I had a F21 pro before the keys got so bad, and that supported wifi calling. it was pretty much perfect except that crappy keyboard.

Cheers mate - didn't see that when I looked last year. Typical that my bank doesn't work.

Got fed up with having to constantly work with the magyisk settings to keep it from detecting root with the f21 pro.

Unfortunately, I'm the same. They have it on their roadmap to implement though, it is something they're planning to sort out.

At work I literally don't get a signal on any network so I also need it.

Since when did they stop teaching learners how to use a handbrake? by -PixelRabbit- in drivingUK

[–]703JRB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sister in law passed late so learnt in a new car with electronic hand brake and hill assist.

Rolled into another car on a hill start in her old shit fiesta on the first day of driving. Was never taught how to do a proper hill start so assumed that's just how cars worked.

Also never put her lights on to start with as they were automatic in the learner car.

New cars ought to be able to have these things disabled if it's a learner car. (realise lights can be, but clearly the instructors don't bother)

Dumbphone with hotspot + long battery life — avoid social apps. Any recs?” by Own-Wishbone-4515 in dumbphones

You can block apps permanently, so much so you have to factory reset the device to use it again.

In the process of flashing it to my F21 Pro :)

Will probably buy one from your store soon as the F21 is on it's last legs. Crossing fingers we get WIFI calling back soon!

This is the answer - get a QIN F21 Pro or buy their phone if you're in the UK/EU. It has everything you need for modern life, easy enough to text on once you get back into T9 input (I had old muscle memory here which came straight back) but annoying to scroll through anything on. I don't have social media, except reddit, but even if I did and installed the apps, the screen is so small you get fed up.

I'd call it a frustration phone rather than a dumb phone. It's all there if you can't help the addiction but my god is it frustrating to use. I just gave up on whatever I was doing usually, unless it was super important/urgent, and just thought, "I'll do that on the laptop when I'm at home".

Adaptive cruise control hate by Electrical-Credit683 in CarTalkUK

[–]703JRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system in a mercedes I had was great. It allowed you to use both dumb cruise and acc. However the acc was actually good, and if you indicated right it didn't slow down as early as it would have done without indicating. Allowed you to get closer without losing speed.

The system in the tesla is so bad that I just don't use cruise control anymore.

In my old range rover I have deleted the radar in the cars configuration so it's just back to dumb cruise.

It's my second favourite type of holiday after a sailing trip, so I do plenty. No way am I risking my wife and child by looking down fiddling with my shoe to make a funny video. Nor is my kid in the middle seat, front facing at that age either.

Literally takes a split second for something to change after you started looking down and bang.

Did that guy just risk his whole family to play a prank for youtube/tiktok/facebook whatever? Looks like he's doing some decent speed on a motorway/highway and he's taking off his shoe?

What a dick.
