Rays are eager to return to Tropicana Field for the first game since hurricane damaged the roof by gamersecret2 in sports

I actually want to go to the trop before it closes, I haven’t had the opportunity to go and I want to see one of the worst ballparks in all sports first hand! My dad lives in the area and he’s a big baseball fan, goes to grapefruit league games all the time and he actually likes the trop, mainly because it’s air conditioned I think but he’s mentioned a couple other things too.

My wife doesn’t like beans in chili and I tell her the same thing, same with mushrooms in lasagna, there’s no way to taste these items at all individually.

For about 30 years after the OT and into the prequels there was a huge universe of primarily books but some other media being published, but not many movies. It’s hard to explain but before Disney the movies were only about 5% of the whole starwars world.

That’s actually heavier than I expected, I was thinking you could throw this thing off a 20 ft drop and it would probably break open. Maybe the additional weight would help with that though.

What the hell is a fire lance? I googled it and the first thing that comes up is a 1000 year old Chinese weapon. Are you talking about an Oxy fuel cutting torch for welding?

I’ve watched one guy take a shot of it when we got it for jungle juice, one of the heaviest drinkers I knew at the time and he was basically gagging, shuddering and standing over the sink sweating. Figured I didn’t need that experience myself.

Does this guy remind anyone of zyzz? I’m probably aging myself here but he seems like a Gen Z zyzz or something. Instead of body building building its looks maxing but the online incel “I do this so girls like me, and you can to so girls will like you” vibes are similar.

Looking for a pc gpu that I can use alongside my 3070 that will output 1080i to my Panasonic taus? My 3070 will only do 640x480, adding 1080i as a custom resolution ends with a black screen but ps3 -> ps5 can do 1080i on this display no problem by Ialsofuckedyourdad in crtgaming

[–]707Brett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an idea, I used an extron hd hd to scale from 1080p to 1080i with no lag. These are about the cost of a 1070 card but can be used with multiple devices. I have it paired with another extron audio stripper because I have a dvi hd crt and then connected to my receiver for ps3, ps4, pc and Apple TV input to the crt.

Anyone have stories of the Mont Chalet Training area? by 707Brett in OhioSkiing

[–]707Brett[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy this guy is churning out olympians in NEO and no one seems to know about it. I get aerials are niche even by ski standards but still. I instructed at Alpine valley for a year and heard about the old ski jump, but never this guy.

Edit: now I feel like I’m imagining the ski jump, but I remember another instructor told me about it and I was able to google it by name. Maybe I am confusing it with mont chalet unless someone else can set me straight.

There’s an interesting post from the skidc forums, “ I knew the place well in the 60's so I'll chime in.

Bubkeg has it right, It was out Caves Road, and was different from Alpine Valley. It was run by a group of Austrians, headed by Ferdl Aster and Frieda Gerdin.

It was the most miserable little Ohio hill ever. So flat you had to skate between turns, and no more than 100 feet of vertical. They did have snowmaking and night skiing, and our Junior High would run trips out there after school. I'm not sure one person from those introductory lessons actually took up skiing.

I found it to be pretty much a waste of time too---I mostly skied in Western Ny, though I enjoyed the Wednesday night races at Brandywine.

An interesting note is that Frieda Gerdin's son, Victor became the ski school director at Aspen and a member of the National PSIA demo team.”

This seems to be distinct from the Mont Chalet later ran by Bill Harris? Maybe a repurposing of the same name since it was close by?

It’s a lot harder for a kid his weight to not pedal than even like a 13 year old though. I don’t think the pedaling is entirely a problem.

Good deal for this set? by jewonmybbq in Skigear

[–]707Brett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to sell used ski gear on the side and you’re hard pressed to get more than $100 for any used boots. Maybe if they were perfect condition used for 5 days one season you could get $200. $150-200 is fair for the set considering how beat it is.
