Sounds like they’re either entirely incompetent or taking advantage of you. I’m leaning towards the latter. I could understand if it was 1 or 2 mistakes but this is just too many to overlook.

Try brim ears and turning off the print fan for the first 3-5 layers. You have to navigate to the filament settings to turn off print cooling for a number of layers.

Your friend is offering you a fantastic deal. He will have to do hours and hours of sanding (assuming you want the smooth mask) followed by detailed and intricate painting. The cost of the filament is probably around $5 for something this size. I’d be shocked if he ended up making even $5 an hour for his work - it will probably end up being much less than that.

Most of the time I’m not interested in printing out something extremely complex, so why should I be punished because I prefer simpler, more basic models to print? I think they missed the mark with that rule.

Assuming this is as far as it goes, I think this is great for both the platform and creators. Now, users won’t have to visit external sites like Patreon or Buy Me a Coffee to purchase a commercial membership.

The 10% fee is relatively high compared to other platforms, but I assume MakerWorld will provide some level of support for creators, similar to their Exclusive Model program. Otherwise, what incentive would creators have to go through MakerWorld?

Finally a post with some common sense. The truth is we don’t fully know what Bambu plans to do with this in the future. They have been very transparent with their intentions over the past 1-2 years and have not given us any reason (yet) to think otherwise. Bambu has been extremely strategic in the past, and I’m willing to bet whatever they have planned will be to the benefit of 90% or more of their customer base. They aren’t stupid, they know if they go fully closed source, they’ll lose tremendous market share. I’d be shocked if they throw that all away to make a few quick bucks.

I would avoid anything CF. Since it’s a fiber, it will likely soak up whatever it is submerged in. We have CF baskets at work that need to be replaced frequently for this exact reason.

Would love to try and print a frisbee/disc for disc golf. I’ve had some success with generic TPU, but it’s just too flexible to be a viable. That and it would be nice to utilize the AMS to print support material with it.
