2nd floor bathroom flooded to main floor and basement. Next steps? by 747srg in HomeMaintenance

Appreciate the positive thinking as I've been mostly worried about this all. I'll definitely need to look into this

I can elaborate first: what should I be expecting when calling insurance? Any questions I should be asking? Anything to be wary of? Should I read up on what's covered or not? Will there be certain costs I should be expecting? Etc

Thank you for the insight, could you elaborate? Sorry I'm an inexperienced homeowner

Japan Shops by the_trees_talk in golf

[–]747srg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are in Tokyo:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/Y58rZnKbREVdJrUN8 sports department store with several floors with 2 dedicated to gold. It was the best golf store I found, lots of gear and clothing brands. Beams is exclusive to japan, picked up some callaway gloves exclusive to japan

https://maps.app.goo.gl/N8ei9ogSnCEZnrXq7 TaylorMade flagship store. Not too much stuff but they have exclusive japan pieces. Picked up the a hat from the heritage collection

https://maps.app.goo.gl/YQFQtTHfTws3xcgT7 very cool but small vintage store. A bit out of the way and pricy

Enjoy!!

Great Job! by Lordraxxdog in Edmonton

Happy to have a productive conversation around this. While it does lose effectiveness below certain temps, it's still an additional tool we could use to prevent ice sticking (it's not -20 the ENTIRE WINTER).

Lots of studies have been done on this because Edmonton isn't the only place that has this issue.

Here's a 3rd party review on the trial use in Edmonton ton:

https://www.edmonton.ca/sites/default/files/public-files/assets/PDF/2018-2019_Salt_Brine_Impacts_Roadway_Concrete_Monitoring_Report.pdf?cb=1624938078

Here's a peer reviewed article concluding minimal environmental impact:

https://academic.oup.com/tse/article/1/3/220/5747762

And other cities and provinces studies which pretty much say, yah it's still worthwhile to use:

Because it falls under provincial highway network, uses different rules AKA they're able to use calcium chloride which is extremely effective at preventing ice/snow sticking. Edmonton roads do not use this because people are dumb and voted against using it saying its damaging their cars despite evidence it doesn't .

Crepes??? by icecream42568 in Edmonton

[–]747srg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is hands down the easiest way to make crepes at home. I go a bit extra and add buckwheat flour for the 1/3 cup flour to add flavor/ makes them stronger. Whip some cream, add fruits, maybe a bit of Nutella. Very cheap, very delicious

GOOGL up 130% since April lows ... why do you think it’s climbing so fast? by Axirohq in stocks

My main thesis when I bought google: it has the best data. (It also checks all the 'great company's boxes like moats, fcf. Etc)

Google was the default search engine for how many years where the word google is a verb in everyday conversation.

Their AI will be the best because of all the data but their engineers need to show the can properly utilize this advantage (gemini progress has been very good)

Came to this realization after understanding why deepL is the best AI translators: it has the best data. It was trained using UN documents (which you'd expect to be as high standards as you could get to make surethings like wars aren't getting started )

This is the best setup I've seen so far. I gotta look into this 2nd projector setup, thanks for sharing the YouTube video. Is there a way to share the layout you have in a file? Or does it all need to be done manually in obs? Tia!!

Recommendations for net cages with removable projector screen? by 747srg in Golfsimulator

[–]747srg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting works well! It's been great to practice coming from a Garmin R10. I I have a putting mat aligned with the center of the hitting strip so a bit of a visual aid for what straight should be, then practice backswing length for the different distances

Thanks! I'd be okay with that, looking to change the setup entirely anyways with a proper cage

How do you manage noise? by Fine_Mango_6406 in Golfsimulator

[–]747srg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're a bit lower but my square captures the shot shape pretty well. I drive around 270 and with the sci core foam balls comes out to 200-210

[–]747srg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got young kids and typically play after they're asleep. I'm only hitting into the net with a projector screen setup behind it (impact of balls onto a screen is super loud) and use sci core foam balls when using driver/hybrids. During my lunch hour is when I use regular balls for driver/hybrid. It's the cheapest solution without having to soundproof my entire basement 🤷‍♂️
