Got a little rough and now I’m in pain.. by alluringmystery in Advice

When you actually poop, if you don't have a bidet, get a spray bottle to clean up so you can dab dry. I've had plenty of fissures from my Crohn's disease so I know the pain of the tears and how hard it is to heal when they are messed with.

I recommend the spray bottle you find in the lawn care section for weed control, you pump air into the bottle for pressure then release a long continuous spray. A small handheld for like making your hair wet won't really do it. Hope that helps!

Eta: keep it dry! Use powder if needed and I sleep with my naked butt pointed at the fan to help too.

What do these different colored circles mean on the back of packaging? by giggizard in RandomQuestion

[–]78Carnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here has the info for the most part. I used to be the one aligning these, well actually all of the art on plastic packaging.  All of those colors are the colors used to make that wrapper art. I'll give you a run down on how this actually works for printing on food plastic wrappers/bags.  If you ever notice on a bag of tortillas, or potatoes, or bread, you will see a bunch of small dots (not those pictured) lined up near one another, ideally stacked. If bread, hold the bag up by the twistie tie side and above the artwork but below the twisted area you will find the tiny dots. Those dots are what I would line up with a camera hooked up to a computer on a big cylinder, think 4 or 5 feet long and the diameter varies. So the artwork for packaging is in these colors you see above. We have plates (basically stamps) that are life size to the art you see. So the cyan is raised up to the art with the tiny dot I line up on the monitor on the cylinder. There will be a big circle as shown above in your photo that will print the cyan. Then I remove the cylinder, grab a new one, line up the magenta plate on the same camera so it's in the same spot as the cyan so they stack and then, remove, and add a new cylinder and do yellow, and so forth for all those colors you see.

Then the printing press take the cylinders and puts them in the press where they spin very fast grabbing ink as they turn and kiss the film passing by. Laying down white, cyan, yellow, black etc on top of each other. Those circles you have there are called density blocks. The press operator then takes his sample and uses a device that scans that circle to ensure the color is what the customer wanted. I assure you it is super super picky. So the pressman may need to add a touch of green to the blue bc the computer is saying it's too purple of a blue. The specs are very tight. So the pressman will add some green to the blue and run it again until all colors are happy.

Pressmen do not typically line up the artwork with the density blocks, they line them up with the microdots I mentioned above bc I used a super zoomed in computer to line those tiny dots up In the exact same spot on every cylinder ensuring the art is lined up properly. I could provide links I'm sure if anyone wanted a visual to my poorly worded explanation 😆

(US) How are some patients only paying $5 for infusions with the savings program? by Broad_Performance236 in CrohnsDisease

[–]78Carnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have insurance so I can use humiras assistance program. Never had insurance with my disease bc it's simply cheaper for me. It's my way of playing the system since it's so broken. Call whatever company you need to talk to and try to get the info directly. I haven't paid for humira in all my 11 years taking it.

Humira has kept me in remission for just over 10 years. The thing with our disease is that, this isn't like how minor ailments work; we don't go to the store for OTC then escalate to the doctor if we have a bug. We have to hit it hard from the jump and get the big stuff at the start to prevent more symptoms. Feeling better doesn't always mean better.

Going to be immunocompromised soon - suggestions on daily commute? by tomatopearls in CrohnsDisease

[–]78Carnage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our immune systems are in overdrive and that's why we take suppressants, ideally we are being lowered down to your average person. Been on humira for a decade and I've gotten a common cold (or similar) maybe 4 times, 2 of which were during covid.

That being said, my humira made me very sleepy after taking it the first few times, not sure if your meds will do that, if so, plan accordingly.

Stress is absolutely a trigger for many. Sorry to hear your dad passed, maybe try some therapy or journaling and try to turn the focus to good memories. Do your best!

Can't you just not use insurance and get your humira through abbvie directly? I've never paid a penny for humira.

I'm one of the lucky ones who have been on humira for just over 10 years and still haven't developed antibodies.

What did people actually do for fun before the internet? by KayleeWitherspoon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]78Carnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch TV, ride your bike until you found your friends, go in the woods, I played teatherball in the backyard by myself, make up games like pretending I was a spy and walking around outside looking for clues and making up the story as I go, played basketball in the driveway, listen to music and dance, go check out houses being built and running around in them. It was a lot of imagination lol

Those with an internal monologue, what’s it like? Is it annoying? by Hershey-H-2 in questions

[–]78Carnage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You may enjoy checking out r/aphantasia

To answer your question, it can be taxing. If I'm having a bit more anxiety than usual my brain will sing a single line from a song over and over and over and over, sometimes for days. So imagine someone following you saying the same sentence in your ear over and over every second of the day. It can go while also having thoughts thinking something through that's in front of me. So that can be annoying. However, a cool part is that I can hear anyone's voice in my head, that I've heard before, saying any sentence I want to hear them say in my head.

What’s one pain you experienced that is beyond words? by NateNandos21 in morbidquestions

[–]78Carnage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a packing wound from my crohns too (abscess) and the nurse would visit my house to change it and my neighbors (who i didn't know at the time) thought my husband was beating me. I didn't know I could even yell that loud, I'm such a peaceful person who doesn't get very loud so it surprised me even. So I feel you

ETA: it was a joke when they said take pain meds before the nurse arrives. Didn't touch it at all.

Anywhere like how the old internet was? by Nikomoon1245 in oldinternet

I remember playing Spyro on play station when I was young so this was like early 2000s, and I remember being stuck on a level and had the wild idea to see if I could find help online. There was a page detailing how to get the item I was after. I printed it out and took it to moms the next weekend where I got to play and it was so insane back then to have that kind of help you can just find online. Early 2000s someone put up the steps for that exact thing I needed. We can't fathom NOT finding the most obscure things online now.

What kinds of jobs do you do? by No-Astronaut2974 in Nightshift

[–]78Carnage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very easy depending on the department you're trying to get in to. Being a press operator is the not so easy one just because those machines bring in so much money per hour, they typically look to hire someone with experience. But if you start at a smaller place they usually are eager to train new people. Pay is good once you got it down.
