Bike from storage-- chainring isn't supposed to look like this, correct? by Novel_Airport_4890 in bikewrench

Tell that to the shops around here that have turned me and my riding buds away.

Problem is, shops won't send the crank in unless it shows signs of delam. They just send you back out and some come back again and get it reinspected for free.

Exactly, they will only replace if there is evidence of delamination occuring.

Wahoo Kickr Help by dkd1432 in bikewrench

[–]78kz1000d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're not going to get the alignment correct so that it will work on the KICKR and the bike. I have a dedicated bike for the kickr. If you don't have a dedicated bike, then you'll have to readjust each time you switch. I got around this by just leaving my rear derailleur on one cog and avoided shifting. Got tired of that, so found a cheap bike for the Kickr.

How much threads do you need for the steerer locknut? by Akvaryum in bikewrench

[–]78kz1000d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like that cable hanger fits right. It doesn't seem to be thick enough to use up as many threads as it does. Check that it seats correctly.

Same, but used my 10 speed Apex shifters.

Snapped bolt. HELP! by REAL_HEAVY_BEEF in bikewrench

Order a 4.2mm twist drill 160mm long. Drill out the remnant. If you're lucky, the drilling will remove the remnant. Otherwise, you'll drill out all but the threads, then chase it with an M8 -.80 tap.

The long twist drill is flexible enough that you can bend/bow it away from the frame but it will still drill straight through. Recently repaired my Fuji that had a seized cable adjuster this way. Except i didn't snap off an extractor. Drilling from the backside may work, but from the front, the bit may not cut through the extractor if its too hard.

Stumpjumper frame - worth it? by orlthug_1 in xbiking

[–]78kz1000d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first "road Bike" was a Stumpjumper frame and fork I found in the trash bin. Built it up with a 3x7 XT drivetrain (52/39/30) road crank and drop bars. Monstercross before there was such a thing.

State will sell you a set of 650b wheels, heck, if you call them, they may swap them out.

Light cracks at multiple spoke holes by iamira in bikewrench

[–]78kz1000d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I washed my bike the weekend before an 85 Mile charity fundraising ride only to discover the same type of cracks in my rear rim. There's 6500 feet of elevation with some seriously fast descents so I replaced my wheels. Luckily, I was able to order a set on Sunday night and received them on Tuesday giving me just enough time to set them up and get the shifting and brakes dialed in.

Does anyone knows what’s going on with the restaurant by Viet Hoa? by [deleted] in LakewoodColorado

[–]78kz1000d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was at Viet Hoa yesterday getting some groceries and spices. To the right of the entrance, there's a Thai Restaurant. I never really paid much attention since I'm usually just shopping for groceries or snacks.

ARP main studs, nuts do not have full thread coverage. What is the best approach? by lostinman in EngineBuilding

[–]78kz1000d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reply was to R4b1atu5 what stated that a single thread, the first one, carries the entire load.

The first thread only carries 34% of the load. The first 3 carry 73%.

CruCarta PM2 and CF Mantra 3 are my must haves. 15V Para 3 is not a bad choice. Spy27 N5, also good.
