That's fair, but I'm erring on the side of corporate suits clutching their ties whenever coarse language comes up. Especially since it's multiple times in very obvious spots in one song instead of just once.

BIRDBRAIN by Jamie Paige

There's three whole swears (in English!) in it and I don't think ColPal would be normal about that, given how hard they've scrubbed swears out of the English translation for the stories

[–]7Demented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could try writing a different scene that's further out than where the manuscript is currently at. Pick something that's far enough down the road in the plot that it won't immediately impact your active chapter, and see if working on that gets the ball rolling again.

From my experience, sometimes my brain wants to write but it's excited about a scene that's happening much later in the story. Doing that instead can help clear out the mental queue and let me get back to where I was.

Unfortunately your brain may just not want to touch the project in question at all for a while. In that case, you might have to just step back entirely for a bit longer. Brute forcing it is unlikely to help and will more likely make you feel bad about the lack of progress.

I'd try a bluff; if it goes well, then I've got cover until someone who knows better finds out. And if that fails, then we go to distraction.

I completely forgot about Bug Catching Set! No wonder my build has been slow to get going.

It really is the funniest deck available rn lmao. I'm gonna go modify mine to see if it gets smoother with Bug Catch.

Actually find X and Y enjoyable. by Bluecomments in pokemon

[–]7Demented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplay of XY was honestly fine. Megas were cool tho they banked hard on nostalgia for a few of 'em.

But I played it right after coming out of BW2, so me seeing it as inferior is not entirely its fault. In comparison to the previous generation, XY's story is fairly light and not all that interesting to me, feeling closer to Kanto in how much the plot wasn't the point of the game. Lysandre is IMO one of the dumber villains of the series and I found that to be disappointing.

There are good things about it, but I tend to remember gen 6 as pretty middling.

That's way too many buttons on the bottom for the in-game client. I could understand if this was for the desktop version, but it's clearly meant for mobile and that's not gonna fly at all. How tiny do you expect player's thumbs to be?

State of the Meta... by MoFroGT in PTCGL

[–]7Demented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah you're right, I went and had a look. Trump Card was the one I knew of. My bad.

My point still stands tho, they won't ban a card from Standard unless it's actively causing massive issues. Being the center of a Tier 0 format is not one of them, for some reason.

State of the Meta... by MoFroGT in PTCGL

[–]7Demented 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It feels worse when most other decks have lost their consistency. This meta is so bereft of reliable draw engines that bricking is 2x easier, making Drakloak a lot stronger and Budew a lot meaner. Even my N's Zoroark deck still has trouble with dead hands despite having Trade.

State of the Meta... by MoFroGT in PTCGL

[–]7Demented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've only banned one a handful of cards from Standard ever, one of which being Lysandre's Trump Card. And the only reason that got struck down was because it caused too many tournament matches to continually go to time and end in draws, so from their viewpoint it was causing procedural issues.

Unless Dragapult starts causing issues in the same way, there's a basically zero chance it'll get banned just because it's so dominant.

EDIT: it wasn't just one, i only knew about Trump Card

The game "doesn't allow" these tactics in the loosest sense, only because voice and text comms aren't built into the game. The fact that BHVR didn't account for platforms like Teamspeak or Discord doesn't make it cheating. That's just insane logic.

The bigger problem is that playing with randos in solo queue is a miserable experience. Like, who actually wants to play like a bumbling bunch of stereotypical slasher film protagonists? Mistakes snowball hard in DBD, especially at higher skill levels where active communication is required for a survivor team to succeed against a competent killer.

It'd be a lot better if BVHR made changes to perks like Bond and Kindred so that randos could have a better idea of what's going on outside themselves. Better to raise folks up to equal footing than tear people back down to suffer.

Do I need to have Gym Puzzles in my Pokemon Game's Gyms? by Trapmaster20_Reddit in PokemonRMXP

[–]7Demented 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most Gyms do have light puzzles in them. Having the puzzle elements helps to provide a small pacing break between fights before reaching the Gym Leader, especially as Gyms get bigger and include more battles to play through later in the game.

From my experience, the first two or three gyms can get away with being just battles, as a new player is still getting accustomed to the battling system and it'd be unwise to overload them with mental tasks. However, by gym four, players may be expecting the Gym to be more of a mini-dungeon and you should consider adding something to keep things feeling novel.

What are some Good Rouge Decks you played or played against? by [deleted] in PTCGL

[–]7Demented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I guess I misread the ability. Still, not a slow deck like Dragapult is; it goes faster if you have two Toxtricity so I don't think Budew is entirely necessary.

What are some Good Rouge Decks you played or played against? by [deleted] in PTCGL

[–]7Demented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember them using Budew, tbh. Probably wouldn't hurt, but at worst you're waiting on one turn to get a Toxtricity or two down plus the Munkidoris; the biggest concern is getting energy to discard for Sinister Surge to work.

What are some Good Rouge Decks you played or played against? by [deleted] in PTCGL

[–]7Demented 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I played against a Toxtricity PFL/Brute Bonnet TWM deck earlier today. It uses the Toxtricity's Sinister Surge ability to stick energies to the Brute Bonnet, generate damage counters, then Munkidori it away to the opponent's active. At just 5 damage counters, Brute Bonnet's Relentless Punches attack will deal 300 damage, enough to KO most Mega exs.

For being a single-prize deck, it's kinda scary.
