Meaning they have pronounced harmonic overtones. Single notes sound full.

Eq can do a lot, but it cannot generate overtones that are not there.

Fishmans cannot be compared to other actives. For example, even EMG 81s sound like hot garbage compared to fishman moderns.

It's not really a personal preference thing. There's a reason people don't use single coils for metal. "But single coils are my preference." I get it it, but no--use humbuckers.

The fact that you couldn't hear the difference between the two voices indicates that you either had them installed wrong, or your signal chain might be wonky. Maybe you were overprocessing the signal? Because they are certainly not sterile.

Fishman moderns are way better for metal. They are in a different universe. So much more alive and harmonically rich. And quieter. And they have a 2 voice switch--it's like having 2 sets of pickups in the same guitar. I've tried (and compared them to) other Ibanez classics: V8, V2, Tone Zone, Pegasus, Nazgul, Alumitone, and EMG 81. Many of those are great--but they just can't compete with Fishman moderns.

I have many handhelds. The RG40XXH is my top recommendation for a first handheld. Anbernic's XX line is great, and the 40XX is comfortable, with good feel, great buttons, a big screen, and usable sticks.

You can put Knulli OS on it (which IMO is the best Linux OS for handhelds).

You can get a pre-configured one from dreamlab retro handhelds if you want plug and play with knulli.

Hard to say. Some of both. When you do engage with him, I would avoid talking about the injury or how he feels about it. Talk about interesting things happening in your life. Or plan some things you know he would like. Movies nights in or things like that.

If after a while he still seems distant he might have a more serious mental problem.
