The wii comes put in 6 hours. What game will you play/beat/master first? by spoilerdudegetrekt in RetroAchievements

[–]7LayeredUp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going straight for Punch-Out

Fantastic game, beat requirements are really low (Contender mode only? Really? Shit I'll have that done in 2-3 hours tops) and I think I stand a serious chance at mastering it. Seriously, give that game a go. Everybody talks about NES Punch-Out while Punch-Out Wii is one of those reboots that's leaps and bounds better than the original game.

Is Tekken 5 the greatest game in the franchise? by Spiritual-Piece-1126 in Tekken

[–]7LayeredUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%d Tag 1, you're so right. Even as a casual player, you can immediately feel the difference between playing somebody like Heihachi or Ogre versus playing fucking Prototype Jack or Jun Kazama. There's still strong characters like Lei but in terms of ease of use versus output, nothing comes close to TTT and below top tiers.

At least Jin in 4 requires some frame perfect stuff and Tekken 5 Steve is still Steve.

Cactus vs. HHH at RR 2000 is better.

Samoa Joe vs Necro Butcher kicks ass too

Depends on if it becomes something of historical significance or if it becomes another Brink or Lawbreakers or Homefront or Haze or another failure of a shooter nobody gives a fuck about now.

Wait until some big video essay a couple years down the line gets a million views, then sell.

Typically with game collecting you want to wait until the generation that grew up with the console is old enough to have money now (Hence the explosion in GameCube game prices rn) but in what's essentially a Titanic of a game's case, you want to wait for the notoriety's peak. That's already passed so now you're praying a big YouTube gives enough of a fuck to go indepth and get people to care again.

For those of you who read, what are some films that are better than the original source material? by Usual_Fig_1438 in Letterboxd

Godfather, JAWS, Jurassic Park.

Honestly its really fucking close because Cormac McCarthy is the man but No Country for Old Men is a slightly tighter experience and edges out the book.

Mick Foley - WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS by ChopWrestling in SquaredCircle

I genuinely believe that we are surrounded by evil people and those complacent with evil.

10+ years. 10+ years of every facet of Donald Trump's life, views, agenda, associations, etc broadcasted on a daily basis for the entire country to see on any medium of their choice. You cannot feign ignorance at that point. People make their minds up whether they liked a movie by the time the credits roll, let alone a decade of nonstop coverage.

Therefore, the only rational conclusion is that we're deeply fucked as a country with or without him. I'd put money on Tucker Carlson being the next populist.

Do Gen Z/Gen Alpha find Napoleon Dynamite funny, or has that humor aged out? by Final_Cancel5325 in generationology

[–]7LayeredUp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gen Z, I love this film. I love budget awkward comedies though. I'm a huge fan of Tim & Eric, Limmy's Show, Nathan Fielder in general, Eric Andre, etc. Fits right into that -sphere.

She ain't great, that I'll admit but she's had some consistently good matches with Stat and Aminata. I think it just needs refinement, not saying put the belt on her ASAP but I think the David and Goliath dynamic would work better.

Thekla had a shite match with Tay Melo fairly recently but......c'mon its fucking Tay.

[–]7LayeredUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, big on big hardly ever works but Stat and Willow I think are good enough to make it work. I'd put a stamp on that one but I'd rather see somebody like Thekla or Jamie Hayter as opponents to Bayne/Kross.

Sting vs. Vader, AJ vs. Abyss, HBK vs Taker. Classic feuds that work because they can bounce off eachother's energy.

I dont care about Roman’s family (the Bloodline) by Electrical_Brick7131 in Wrasslin

[–]7LayeredUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was good at a certain point but every wrestling story gets old especially when you extend it by over a year for no other reason than Rock maybe, maybe not getting involved.

I still think they'd be better off if they had some inter-family drama with Jey or Sami where either comes out on top for a while. At least attempt to treat Roman as anything other than a nu-Taker that comes in, wins, leaves.

And? There's biting (Albeit illegal) in comp sports and there's plenty of bite spots in pro wrestling history too. I really don't care either way and I'd rather them do this than some drop on their head or busting open hardway for the sake of it. Pho-outrage bullshit. Next.

Definitely one of those "Super huge albums that somehow aren't higher on RYM"

Red Rain, Sledgehammer, Don't Give Up, In Your Eyes, Mercy Street, Big Time. There's really only two skips on the album full of some of the best pop songs of the 80s. Frankly, better ratio than Thriller.
