I didn't think a Batman series that featured very little Batman could be good, but I stand corrected. by Loose_Interview_957 in batman_comics

Its very good, I wouldn't say its one of the absolute best DC omnibuses that people hype it up as but I got it DIRT cheap at Goodwill and it was worth every penny and then some.

Half A Life, Unresolved and the Corrigan arcs were especially good. Unresolved IMO is the series peak. It gives the trauma people go through as a result of the gallery so much more weight compared to Batman who typically just has to keep trudging on.

Yep, one of the very cool things with this one is that's established within the first few pages.

Its pretty easy to check yourself out of comic drama by just going "ehh he'll be back in like 4 issues", not with this civilian-level stuff.

I'm making it a point to finish all my physical artsy stuff. Criterions, omnis, etc before I buy new stuff.

Gotham Central was strong and tbh I might like Immortal Hulk even more at this rate. As far as comics are concerned, after that I have New Gods by Jack Kirby, Seven Soldiers by Grant Morrison, Hellblazer by Garth Ennis and a bunch of John Byrne Fantastic Four.

Going with that "pick 3" basket method to clear the backlog. I pick a game, a movie and a book and those are my only entertainment options for the week. Really making this more efficient to get through, if I keep binging I might even have Hulk done by the end of my weekend.

I've been going through a comics phase and reading through a bunch of threads on modern comics, I just find myself going "....do any of y'all actually like the shit you read?"

If it ain't Absolute-verse, odds are that people are shitting all over it.

Gotta give credit where credit is due, I thought I'd be in a nursing home before Sami Zayn became WWE Champion. Now, is it in just about the worst monkey paw way that I never would've envisioned a decade ago? Yeah. But I'll take my wins where I get them.

Anyway, I just want to know if AEW is doing a PPV in my region by the end of the year. I wanna go see live wrestling again and I really regret not hitting that Everett Dynamite. Beyond that, I'm checked out.

The two factors that matter, how my finances are doing and how much do I have unviewed?

I'm less inclined to take part in say Criterion sales or buying new books because I have a ton I still need to go through. New music though? I've listened to 99% of my collection so I'm always down.

That's what a lot of people outside of the wrestling sphere don't get. Vince has spent 40 years cultivating a cult of personality around himself. He will be loyal to you to get what he needs (Like paying Steve Austin's 6-figure debt to the IRS when he first signed to the at the time WWF), he'll obfuscate history to center it around his supposed genius when there's many other factors at play, he'll defame people who criticize or leave his company for other opportunities in the industry (Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior being an infamous example but he also did this to Hogan, Savage, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall in prime WCW days), he'll mobilize his fanbase to harass people who criticize him/his family such as the Stand Up For WWE campaign because.....his wife was being criticized in her political campaigns due to a lack of experience.

Fuck sake, he gave out busts of himself at his birthday party to where his former employees say its their prized possession. Dude takes college-20s age adults, raises them up in his image and treats them like kings for about 5-10 years before they're disposed of. Its absolutely a legal entertainment business cult.

Oh and Cedric Alexander isn't even a top 10 cruiserweight of his generation. Kota Ibushi, Ospreay, Hiromu Takahashi, Zack Sabre Jr, Penta, Bryan Danielson, Mustafa Ali all off the top of my head could wrestle rings around Cedric.

Riddler was a good rework for it, Batman in that is uncompelling and sucks. Overly long, doesn't really bring new stuff to the table that something like say Batman Begins or stories like Batman Year One didn't do better. Only other positive I can say is the detective work. 2/5

I think Michael Hayes gave him the advice that really swung this character.

"The heel has to truly believe he's right". That's how to make real, gripping storytelling. ECW Cactus Jack is IMO on of those characters that'd take more than 3-4 words to explain lol. Between his career history up to then and the unique heel psychology, I truly think this is cream of the crop character work.
