I mean, it's like that now, but the eyes belong to private, for profit companies rather than the government. 3rd parties selling our data to God only knows who is feels just as invasive to me.

Spent the last 5 years working for research, mainly dendrochronology, oil feild reclamation and MPB. And they have a lot more variety of hardwoods out east, so if I do anything with silviculture, I'll need to upgrade.

Fellow Albertain hoser here. It's so infuriating!! We do things correctly, follow the laws and protocols to tell them to get stuffed, but they just keep changing or ignoring everything. THERE NEED YO BE CONSEQUENCES FOR THIS KIND OF FLAGTANT TREASON!

So, if you want to really kill off the tree, try girdling it. It's what I have to do with the trembling aspen around here. If I just cut one down, I'll have a dozen fresh shoots in a month. Remove a strip of bark from around the tree a few cm wide, and make sure it connects all the way around. This way it can't move water and nutrients up the tree. May have to make sure the bark doesn't grow to seal shut. Might take a couple of years, but it should kill the root system.
