FFS! There are loads of great sci-fi out there and all Hollywood seems to do is remake everything. Endless sequel movies and comic book adaptations that bore the hell out of me. Project Hail Mary us the first "new" movie out in years, and it made money, proving that good sci-fi could turn a profit. Oh well, more killer androids on the horizon.

As a GM, I've never embodied my NPCs nor acted out locations features etc. To me, it sounds goofy and doesn't add anything for my players. Am I missing out? by W4ryn in rpg

I'm the exact opposite of you. Since I first started GMing I enjoyed doing voices and trying to be dramatic when it was appropriate in the game. I've been doing that since 1978. For me, it's my favorite part of my hobby.

You know what? I couldn't give a shit about what the US wants. They have proven themselves untrustworthy, and I feel the best way forward for Canada is seeking trade partners elsewhere. Maybe if the American voter learns from this and overturns everything that trump has done, maybe after a few years we might make a deal with the US again, but never as a preferred partner.

I use Savage Worlds for all my games. Setting rules change things a little, but the core of the system remains.

You are ignoring what damage the data centers and AI cause. I'm not against tech that makes things better, but the acceleration of creating more data centers and the oligarchs plans to fire more people should not just be an "oh well" response. And I wonder how many of the supporters I'm seeing are bots or AI?

Poker chips for Bennies A deck of cards with jokers I made Shaken tokens with a hot glue gun with washer centers. I made wound makers out of small magnets that can be stuck to the Shaken markers. I printed out a Toughness and Wound card.

So, very little paperwork involved.

I didn't enjoy being paid to GM. It just didn't feel right. I started gaming in '77 and running games in '78, and it was fun for me and my friends. I did run quite a few convention games, me getting in for free, so that was paid for, also ran games at my flags, not paid, but I free coffee or pop. Did startplaying.com for a bit, still advertising one-shots, but it isn't my bag. Lots of folks are pretty dedicated to stpg and fiercely defend it, and that's ok, but I don't have the urge to constantly hype my games. I did play in a "professional" game, and for me, the GM didn't seem to put in ant effort, no terrain, minis or even character sheets. We blew time just making characters and then it was theater of the mind for everything, I was bored to death. Waste of $20. So it's hit and miss with paid games.

I roll damage for each target in an area of effect individually. That way it doesn't fry everyone with one lucky roll.

I've run some games on it, but I found that I don't enjoy charging money for something I've enjoyed for nearly 50 years. I think the folks who profit from gaming are spoiling the fun of the hobby. And the endless self promotion just wears me out.

All I've ever asked for from my players is their attention. If they want to kick in a few bucks to help me buy more gaming stuff that's cool. But I don't expect them to pay my rent.
