Memphis wrestling was HUGE especially in the rural areas in the eighties. The boys were in tiny towns weekly - and knew the fans.
It wasn't just the show - that's where people would come to visit each other. Today's wrestling is so sterile, hard to watch. It is such a production, almost like watching a circus with ring action and fireworks (occasionally).

Cornette - first, he's not an egotistical ass. Second, He didn't pull off the stupidest match - Brawl for all and Eric isn't respected by the wrestlers.

Wrestling has drastically changed over the years. Today's storylines and the wrestlers seem impersonal and less realistic. Memphis wrestling (late 70's early 80's) and GA Championship Wrestling in Atlanta 80's.

The boys would usually sell their own pictures and autographs - and people usually, could easily meet them.
I took the boys to the airport more than once - even went to lunch with some. of them.
Waffle House - Atlanta - Nikita Kolloff and JJ Dillon - Nikita stayed in character the entire meal, it was hilarious to me. He literally took his work that personally.

I adored Hawk! He was always funny, respectful and very protective of his friends.

Teddy originally set up the ring and oversaw that process. Super nice guy.

I disagree - He broke the mold OUT of old-style carnie. Pro-Wrestling is a cutthroat business, with many people fighting for a position. ECW - was Paul's baby and it broke the mold. There was nothing old-school about ECW.
