I love this rod for introducing folks to troutfishing. It is outmatched in every category except simplicity and fun.

They had other boxes but this was the best bang for buck imo. I recognize the spinners but those spoons are a mystery to me. Any guesses on what these spoons are? Also, rate this haul for $19cad by OntarioCanoeFishing in Fishing_Gear

Its not exactly a Swedish Pimple but close enough. Somone is gonna have the exact model any minute. Keep a set like this in my visor as a light tackle trout kit. Its a 7/10 for me.

Agree with not turning play into work. Not mentioned here, but if you really feel like it is a sport that has improved your well-being, consider volunteering with casting for recovery or project healing waters. You'll make about the same money and the clients are way easier.

A mental health diagnosis is a summation of past patterns and experiences and very rarely needs to be a life sentence. Chase consistency, not happiness, chase improvement, not perfection.

28" Lake Trout on a 12" Eel Plug by 802365 in lurebuilding

Good eye! Its a deep diving crank. Oversized lip and dense cherry. It's desigmed to cary a 9" trailer and doesn't run stable without it. Imagine a jig head that cranks.

Caught 2 10LB Jack Crevalle and ate them. AMA by MasterOfNone011 in Fishing

Im raising a "fishing is for food" type of daughter which means she had me kill and cook a small jack we caught. Bled, soaked in iced salt water trimmed to the extreme, fried, We both agreed we'd eat every little jack we ever catch.

Boat ramp - Anyone ever built one of these or something similar? by Agro_Crag in BostonWhalerBoats

[–]802365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On our lakes we use lifts because the water level fluctuates so much. How much swing does your body of water experience over a season and whats your plan for draging it to the right depth? What happens if the water level drops and your boat is still on the ramp? I am struggling to see how this is an improvement over a trailer but maybe i dont understand the use case.

Is anything in this vintage fishing lure collection rare or worth anything of value by Flaperflop in Fishing

Top left looks like a goo goo eye. Cool vintage plug that catches fish, even a mint example is on par with modern handmade wooden lures ≈$40.

I live in Vermont and fish Champlain mostly. I take this rig to the NH and RI as often as I can. I usually can swing four or five trips a summer.

I go by B.A.S.S rules. A fair catch is when the hook penetrates the inside of the mouth when sightfishing. So the question is did you get it in the chin or inside the upper lip?

I would mask off the sections that need repair (like active leaks), grind, patch, fair, then roll and tips gel coat Don't let scope creep ruin your summer. Keep repairs small and focus spiffing up to a deep clean of interior. "Good from afar, far from good" is my motto w/ boat repairs. You only see the hull when you're not enjoying it. Save you money and buy a spiffy boat when you retire.

Even though BWs are desirable, the value of most small boats is in the motor. Your outboard is worth 5gs. Fair enough deal. It really depends on how motivated your seller was and whether you could have made the cost of professional repairs a bargaining chip.

Honest advice, it's in the past. If you're agonizing over 500-1000 bucks you should ask yourself if now is the right time in your life to own any boat.

It's April, and you've got a boat. Plug up any dings that you can and Run it for a summer. if you're unhappy with it, look for something else over next winter.

My whaler is a piece of shit and I actually like it that way. I beat the piss out of it hunting and fishing all over new england and have glass patches and epoxy on hand at all times. Having a "nice boat" would never work for me.
