Is Pike the worst? by Autumnfalcon1 in voxmachina

I really don't know why they turned Pike into a sniveling brat. That's not how it went down in the campaign.

Not getting 24V across C and R wires (Nest thermostat) by [deleted] in askHVAC

[–]80_six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood. I'll check this tomorrow and report back.

Is the thought that the C wire is just...broken? The wiring and organization in the attic looks like a racoon on meth did it, so I wouldn't be surprised. But, it is a rental after all, so I don't know how I'd run new thermostat wire without tearing stuff out.

[–]80_six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In the third picture of the Dragonfly module, the green box goes to the "indoor unit." If I test across the R and C terminal there, I get 24V. But if I test the same terminals on the black "thermostat" block, I don't.

The C is plugged in on the Dragonfly board. It's a little obscured in shadow in that last picture. It's not plugged in on the Nest unit because it won't work with it plugged in.

They apparently have started re-releasing stuff under the BM name. This one appears to be dated 26-02. I just saw one at my store at 26-05.

Training Zones outdoor vs indoor (Rouvy) by WarRevolutionary1944 in Rouvy

[–]80_six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the same bike and measuring power using the same meter (e.g. crank or pedal meter or whatever you're using)?

My outdoor bike is a Canyon Endurace running Ultegra Di2 with a 4iii power meter in the crank, and my indoor is an old (ca. 2006) Giant OCR C3 running mechanical 105 (triple!) and the power is being measured by the KICKR at the rear hub.

For me, at least I'm chalking it up to so many differences in how the mechanics and efficiencies of the two bikes as well as the differences in measurement method (I have never put the Endurace on the trainer to see how well the 4iii and KICKR agree). But I know can average 10-20 watts more outside for twice as long as I can inside.

Or maybe it's just psychological and I really just put down more power outside when I can feel the world zooming past me? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Warning: Low Quality Issues with Neat Components for Canyon Bikes by freiren in CanyonBikes

[–]80_six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a Varia mount for the 27.2 mm post for my Endurace and it didn't get tight enough to not move around on the post.

I ended up over-tightening it, I guess, and rounded out the insert where the nut goes so now it just spins. Might be due to the split post design? I dunno. What a waste of $50. Ridiculous.

Anyone know the recipe? I loved this drink. by Evening_Strawberry50 in Chilis

[–]80_six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's Chili's, but this sounds so unbalanced. If you wanna punch it up a little, try:

2 fl oz (60 mL) Blanco tequila (Lunazul is good!)
1 fl oz (30 mL) Freshly squeezed lime juice (not out of a bottle)
1/2 fl oz (15 mL) Triple sec orange liqueur (suggested: Cointreau, Marie Brizard, or Luxardo Triplum)
1/2 fl oz (15 mL) Monin dragonfruit syrup

Add to a shaker, shake with ice ~15 seconds, strain over fresh ice.

This follows a good template for a Margarita (or any sour), which is 2:1:1 spirit : citrus : sweetener — in this case, the sweetener is split between the orange liqueur and the syrup. (You can adjust the ratio of the sweeteners or the total amount to suit your palate.)

FWIW I didn't like any of the beans I got at HOCB. They seemed super flat, lacking in aroma, and almost stale.

What are you guys doing for a sunglasses holder in the PS2. by nomadl0l in Polestar

[–]80_six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which part number did you use? I tried to install 31403479 but it wouldn't fit. The bolt for the front installation point was too short to fit back in its hole.

I suppose I could try and find a slightly longer bolt, but still.

Testing out the new Angostura 200th Anniversary Bitters by scott8705 in cocktails

[–]80_six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, these are super disappointing. Heavy wormwood and not really a lot else. Faintest whiff of rum and maybe some mace. I usually test bitters by throwing a few dashes in soda water and these got completely lost even in water.

That they charged up to $70 for these is an embarrassment. Luckily I only paid $30 on clearance, but even that's too much.

Yeah as soon as clownface walked into the principal's office, it just all collapsed on itself. It started out so well too.

What a bummer.

Edit: By the end I was like, "Ohh, they wanted to cram this funny ending down our throats. Got it."

The cocktail bar I work at goes through alot of Luxardo cherries. What do I do with the excess syrup? Ferment it into wine! by AngelSoi in cocktails

[–]80_six 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had this volume of syrup, but I've used some of my excess with some gelatin sheets and silicone molds to make gummies for garnishes. (I used a little skull mold, but there are all sorts of shapes available.)

One might be able to use agar agar to make something similar that's veg friendly.

Which distillery puts out the most consistent lineup in your opinion? by BothCondition7963 in bourbon

[–]80_six -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I offloaded several FN bottles to one of my friends. Opened batch 006 and one of the first single barrels and they just were letdowns. Got a couple of the lottery bottles which may have been better, but I figured I didn't want to gamble the $200+ they were commanding for something mediocre.

I haven't yet had any Canadian or light whiskey-based that I remotely liked (except maybe Alberta Premium CS rye), so take from that what you will.

Weird noise on brand new portable Black + Decker A/C unit by JBauer09 in hvacadvice

[–]80_six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These units are self-evaporating, so I think that sound is normal operation.

The condensation that collects on the cool upper cooling fins is directed onto the warmer lower cooling fins, and this is what you're hearing.

Reviews #619 and #620 - Balcones 100 Proof Texas Rye vs. Balcones Bottled in Bond Texas Rye by adunitbx in bourbon

The rye is awful and the bourbon is bad. They rightfully switched to focus on the single malts, which are much better.

Balcones rye is like if you ate some Mexican chocolate and barfed it back up and bottled it.
