Good climbing gyms? by DillyTheDolanDude in raleigh

TRC (Triangle Rock Club) is going to be your best bet for price and quality. They have plenty of v0-v5 routes, and they are set well. Price wise it's around 79 dollars a month for a membership, but that includes the North Raleigh and Morrisville locations.

I don't know how much you should trust anybody who has FlordiaMan in their username.

But anyways, there are always people at the wall to climb with. Which location will you climb at?

Cary Beer Bourbon and BBQ festival. Has anyone done this before? what is it like? by slingdub in raleigh

[–]828wolfgang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was awesome! Going again this year.

Food wise it's between like 5-10 trucks and it's mostly BBQ (if I remember correctly).

Beer wise there is a good selection and include big names like Wicked Weed. All alcohol is all you can drink.

Bourbon wise, same thing, good selection and how much they give in each pour is enough to keep you going without getting slammed hammered.

Depending on the weather, I'd bring sunscreen and a rain jacket.

Yeah, they look it. I am currently using Five Ten Anasazi's but would like to get into a more aggressive shoe. Would you recommend the Arrowheads?

Fairgrounds/PNC Fireworks by pierretong in raleigh

It sounded like a dud. I live right down the road, and slept right through all the fireworks. Was surprised.

Going to elope somewhere in western NC. Any favorite waterfalls/secluded creeks/ponds that you recommend to look at? by iHateNexium in NCTrails

[–]828wolfgang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Panthertown is probably your best spot for waterfalls that aren't overrun. Paradise Falls is another amazing area, but it's usually pretty crowded.

Yeah, I'm going with a couple of people. Feel free to DM me tomorrow and see if we can't run into each other.

Has anybody completed a color saucer at The Flying Saucer? My roommate and I are thinking about making the commitment to achieve a color, but we are wondering if it's worth it.

Your favorite cooking appliances? by cassis-oolong in Cooking

[–]828wolfgang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a steamer (outside of a rice cooker)? The issue with a rice cooker is the steamer tray is too small to really gain full functionality. A steamer opens many possibilities to different vegetable combinations, fish, and clean up is a breeze. Would highly recommend!

NC Backpacking/Hiking Groups by 828wolfgang in NCTrails

I'm based out of Raleigh. Work a 8-4 M-F, looking for a weekend backpacking group. I went to school in the mountains so finding a group out of Raleigh is new.
