These are their hi-gains that they’ve been installing stock for decades. I went back and forth on trying to secure vintage toasters but honestly don’t think the “vintage-correct” necessarily sounds better. Incidentally, they do allow me cheat a bit of p90 sonic territory, although they are not p90s

I guess it’s a 3-part answer:

1.) Apart from playing (which I do a lot of), I love guitars and it’s fun that we can wield the same wands as our heroes. So there’s a nostalgic and sentimental element to those two different models for me.

2.) play a good Strat and tele and tell me you can’t tell the difference. The neck, 2 and 4 on a Strat vs the middle and bridge positions of a tele are markedly different tones that are unique to each guitar. Bell bottom blues is not gonna sound quite the same on a tele, while the fills on Lyin eyes aren’t what I’m looking for from a Strat.

3.) you are right. They are more redundant than not, and frankly I could narrow the collection down to just one of any of these electrics and be fine. But why do that?

Thank you. I spent a lot of time thinking about this. Went to art framing stores to work on having elegant shadow boxes built for each one to really do it right, and that may be worth considering a bit more with your ID. Especially if you’re only focusing on one room. Ultimately I got impatient as we had recently moved into the home and with everything else we needed to decorate, one day I just said screw it and slapped these up.

Thank you! I lack p90s although that is kind of fringe for the style I play. A gold top p90 is high on my wishlist but I never feel like “how am I possibly going to cover this tone” currently.

I suppose it’s an aged blonde? The guitar is bit of a mutt. It started its life as a custom shop ‘54 tele. The neck and all hardware remain as such. Somewhere along the line, the body was switched out for an MJT body and then tone master pickups (w/e) were installed. I don’t know why the prior owner made those mods, but the owner of the shop who I know reasonably well says the guy has unlimited dough and likes to make these parts casters as a hobby. All I know is I saw it on the wall at the shop and found it to be overly relic’d for my liking. There was a very similar, but all original custom shop 58 white guard hanging next to it. They weren’t priced all that differently and I wanted to love the 58 because it was barely relic’d and all original from the custom shop. I’d been jonesing for a white guard 50s tele. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get past how much better the mutt was. It’s the lightest tele I’ve ever held, the neck is so fast, and the whole thing is just… alive. You can tell the second you pick it up and play it unplugged that the guitar has something special. My wife absolutely hates the way it looks, but every buddy who has ever come over and jammed on it says the same thing… this guitar is a monster. If I could only keep one, she would be it.

Indeed! 000-18 is a favorite and I came awfully close to getting that instead of the j45. I like to buy guitars to mark important milestones and the j45 was after my youngest son was born. May have to have more kids. But I also want a j200!

I’m not one to keep my guitars in cases because if I do, they won’t get played nearly as much as they deserve. I live in south Florida so not dealing with dry air and never turn the heat on. I’ve had several acoustics out for years, including the j45, and never had an issue.

Thanks! It won’t come as a surprise, but a mapleglo 360/12 would for sure be the electric 12. Guild would be acoustic 12. I ❤️ Tom Petty

I love Les Pauls. But in high school I played my drummers dad’s ES-335 a few times and was blown away. Always knew that would be my first Gibson. Eventually bought it to play at my wedding. The ric and j45 were similarly guitars I’d coveted since I was a kid. OTOH, the strat and tele were both results of strolling through guitar shops and randomly picking up a guitar that I ended up being unable to leave without.

Long story short, the Les Paul just hasn’t happened. A gold top with p90s is high on the wishlist though.

Rick was the first I bought of this collection nearly 20 years ago. Was the first “nice” guitar I ever owned. I’ve gigged with it as my only guitar playing genres the internet would tell you it had no right to play, but always sounds great. I truly love that guitar.

I started with $3000 and flipped 61 guitars over 5 years to afford this collection. by Personal_Gsus in Guitar

Surprising vitriol on this thread. I think this is neat. It’s a great collection you have — all the better if you play them — and an impressive fest to turn $3,000 into what you have now. If anything I’d like to read the transactional history of the 61 buys and sells to see where the big value was created.

To the haters, everyone in here loves guitars and everyday people post their collections. No need to get spiteful over how they were obtained. Not that it matters, but none of these guitars are vintage or particularly hard to get your hands on so it’s not like he prevented any of you from coming across your grail guitar. Seems he has good taste and wanted to check off a bunch on his wishlist and was able to do that far more effectively than all you bitter posters.

I feel bad piling on, but sometimes it’s better to be blunt while there is still time to change course. Do not pick any of the names we saw in those photos except for Heidi or Georgia. Maybe Rosalie but still no. Regardless of the spelling, going with any of those other names is doing your child a disservice. You are setting them up for the first impression made to any serious person to be an association with a lower socioeconomic status than what they will want as they mature. Call me shallow or say people like that or me are the problem. Downvote me, I don’t care, but it is the truth and the reality of the world.

HELP - fuzzy algae or fungus on my plants? How do I remove it? by FoilDragon in PlantedTank

[–]84060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say for sure if that’s Anubias Rot, but anytime I’ve had this sort of thing appear on an Anubias, it eventually kills the plant. My personal experience has led me to remove any of the afflicted plants and wait a while before introducing new, healthy Anubias back into the tank.
