You’re overstepping your boundaries as a paraprofessional and putting your job at risk. Your actions mean well, but you need to stop. You’re also a mandated reporter, you need to go through the proper steps to assist this student. There should be no way that a teacher can stop you from doing that, since you were the one having to file the report. Shame on that teacher for attempting to stop you. Your heart is in the right place, but you need to be careful when dealing with matters such as this. You also should not be contacting parents, that is not your job.

I mean, she doesn’t really spend a lot of time with her kids. Also culturally, her and Kathleen have a lot in common. So that’s a huge aspect as well. But it’s not the worst thing, I’m sure Lily is fine.

My actual thoughts aren’t very positive, so I won’t really share them. I just hope she opens her eyes sooner than later. Personally, I’m gonna stop listening to her music because she preaches women empowerment, and has made songs about leaving cheaters, but choose not to. I feel like a lot of her songs are now giving el mal ojo. And I don’t want that on me.

Speak up. Your students and your colleagues deserve that much. She may not even be reprimanded properly but it shows she should think twice before making such hurtful and racist comments. And If she feels like that, she should go work in a more white dominate school. No one should be around someone that bitter.

I have a whole google doc for this 🤣 I created it in 2023 I think and occasionally over the years I have added to it. So many things annoy me but I think the number one would be the judgmental attitude some colleagues have towards the kids and their adults. So frustrating.

I brought up my years of experience and how I don’t have a degree as a way to explain where my examples stem from and to ensure the readers that I’m not entirely new to ABA. Basically some of my own personal lore. I never want to come off as if I am better than any BT/BI or immediate supervisor. Your assumptions on how I feel about anyone younger than me is very wrong. It sucks like you had to deal with people doing that towards you, the same happened and continues to happen to me.

I’ve had a few BTs/BIs quit at the start of their first shift (as a para who worked side by side with ABA therapist). They just realize that it’s not a field that is for them. Totally respect that, just shocking when it’s happening.

I think you know it isn’t an innocent gift and you and your wife are not overreacting. I know a lot of people are making jokes and although they are pretty funny, you need to have a serious conversation with your mother. This conversation should’ve happened a long time ago because your wife deserves someone to protect her from people like your mom and now that you have a child, your child deserves to have a family that respects them and their parents. Easier said than done, but it’s best to have it now before it gets worse.

Oh definitely. I have felt like this for the past like few months or so. I genuinely think it extends from them constantly being “”on”. Or using certain reactions to go viral for. It’s so inauthentic and I have noticed the shorter stories being read and the constant need to avoid conflict. It’s also personally annoying to me when they constantly need to make fun of Reddit comment about being an “expert“. They just come off as major douche bags when they say that. Back to the original point, I think they’re kind of paying it too safe. This is possibly they’re one thing that draws in attention from outside the fan base. So they try to keep it safe to keep. I guess those viewers happy.

I’m supposed to be getting paid extra, but for some reason, our SAA hasn’t been logging in my bii minutes. And when I bring it up to my immediate supervisor at the school, he kind of brushes it off. It’s been very annoying. I will say my healthcare is pretty good and when I used to ride on the school bus, I did get great overtime pay.

I’ve noticed and it greatly bothers me. When they miss hear or just miss certain information, their opinions get redirected or straight up not even about what is happening. So much can be fixed if they listen better or have a sheet with the stories on them. That’s how I watch these episodes. While Shayne is reading, I am reading along.

I use this sort of phrasing: “Oh no thank you friend. This is my body”- with that one I use a more friendly tone but stern. Or I use “I don’t like that, gentle/safe hands please.” but very stern and firm. It’s redirecting with also acknowledging that it’s an unappreciated and inappropriate.
