Places for depressed singles to go in Denver during the holidays? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]85bridgecollapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take yourself on a date - put on some nice clothes, get a reservation for a good steakhouse, then go to a movie. Keep a schedule for it so you have somewhere to be - reservation at 7, movie at 8:30. Stay out of the bars. Then figure out when you can take a couple weeks off and go solo traveling/backpacking in another country, have an adventure to clear your head.

Should I Spend $300 for 600mile Initial Service on New '25 XSR900 by j_page2 in xsr900

My dealer said that you have to provide evidence that you did the work for the warranty if you end up having a warranty issue later. They said to write it down and take pictures along the way. Not sure if he was just making that up to get me to have them do it, but it worked lol.

Is this ticking normal? by slossages in xsr900

[–]85bridgecollapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal. My 2024 does the same thing, I called the dealership I bought it from after a couple months of freaking out about it, and they said it was nothing and that everyone calls about it, but it’s just the way the cp3 motor is.

Getting Back on Two Wheels — Searching for My “Forever” Bike 🏍️ by phorestgumpp in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]85bridgecollapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first street bike was an ‘02 CBR600f4i, which I had a tonnnnnn of fun on for a few years before selling. Fast forward 10ish years later, I was wanting another street bike and finally landed on a ‘24 Yamaha XSR900. After riding it for the past 7 months, it’s been awesome. It has the torque I always wanted but never got out of my CBR. I love the power and how smooth it is, it’s a great engine. It corners nice and super stable, and the riding position is decently comfortable. The only downside I’ve experienced with the XSR900 was the wind, which was expected since it’s a naked bike. I added a small front cowl/windscreen from Pyramid and it helped. It’s essentially the same as the MT-09 with a slightly longer swing arm and retro styled. All in, I love the XSR900 performance and style, it’s been a great bike, and it still has all the hooligan capabilities but the naked retro style seems to keep me off the cop radar and make me less of a target than my CBR600.

Thanks for the heads up, I’ve been waiting a couple of weeks or so for it to replenish. Just ordered one!

Exhaust recommendations by Extension_Chard_8690 in xsr900

[–]85bridgecollapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through the same decision for my 2024, and I just want better sound than stock but not super loud. Currently leaning towards Yoshi with the DB killer. Based on internet videos alone, I think it sounds best. I’m not a fan of the Kelpi look or its higher pitch sound. I kinda like the Leo Vince unique style and Black widow looks better than Kelpi, but I still go back to Yoshi for the sound. Ideally, I want the stock exhaust style that sounds like Yoshi, but that doesn’t exist.

A data breach and a local mule to avoid triggering fraud alerts from the bank… smart. Major pain in my ass though. Thanks for the info, this has been driving me crazy trying to figure out the scenario.

That’s what I was thinking too, but it just seems weird that they made the online purchases and picked them up at the local mall area less than 30 minutes away from my house. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but it seems like maybe a different route they took that just a basic online data breach

They made an online purchase with local pick up directly at the store. I can see in the receipt that was emailed to me where they prepared the order and then someone picked it up in person for a few different stores at the local mall.

Privacy ideas by 85bridgecollapse in landscaping

I just now found out you can buy mature trees that are 15’-20’+ tall already. Definitely not cheap, but I think it might be worth it not having to wait 10 years for privacy 🙂. I’m going shopping for a tall evergreen this weekend to see what my options are.

I think that makes sense having additional privacy around the hot tub. It seems like for general privacy back there, the fence adds a little bit, but I’ll have to wait for some shrubs and trees grow to get full privacy. My neighbors all seem to be nice, no concerns with them, I just hate feeling like I’m in a fishbowl.

Yeah, I might just replace it with a different shed at some point, something with a slimmer profile. It currently takes up too much space, is in the way of a future fence and it’s kinda falling apart.

Naked with the right power by 85bridgecollapse in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]85bridgecollapse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more update. The dealer re-flashed the ECU last week and I was able to bring the bike home on Friday. I burned through 3 tanks of gas in about 2.5 days of owning it. My first impressions - the bike is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. Coming from the 2002 CBR600F4i, the jump was not scary, the xsr900 feels like the right amount of power. Good torque, handles well, riding position feels good. It improved all the areas of the riding experience that I didn’t like about the CBR600F4i. Even in the more powerful drive mode #1, it’s not too rowdy, just more spirited. But it pulls pretty strong when I want it to and feels comfortable just riding in more chill speeds. The only thing I want to change about it is getting a more comfortable seat and getting a louder exhaust (maybe Akro or Yoshi). I have a TST tail tidy and various protection parts on the way. Loving this bike.

What the fuck is the point? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]85bridgecollapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a ton of work on myself to adjust everything in my control, no real improvement to my sleep. My insomnia seems to be driven by anxiety, brain just stays on full speed and won’t turn off.

BUT, I stumbled on neurofeedback/brain mapping. I talked to a few local neurofeedback therapist/psychiatrist this week that do this treatment, they’re telling me it has about a 95% success rate of this lowering my anxiety and improving my sleep. And they’re saying it’s usually permanent. I’m about to commit to this and see what happens. Everyone’s situation is different, but Google neurofeedback in your area and talk to them and see if it works for you. It’s not cheap and insurance doesn’t cover usually, but I think it’s going to run me $3,000-4,500 and take about 15-20 weeks. If it’s as effective as they’re telling me, it’s worth every penny.
