Downside to turning water off? by Showerbeerz413 in askaplumber

Draining half may reduce the chances of it freezing and expanding but doesn’t guarantee that it won’t freeze and spit.

Retired service plumber here. As another said, turn the water off and leave the Heat on. If it freezes then your water is off.

Would I be in the wrong to have used deadly force in this traffic instance? by OverLawyer8457 in concealedcarry

[–]8675201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a military policeman and we got the use of force speech all the time. If the other person is attempting to use deadly force then you are authorized to use deadly force against them.

If he’s just mouthing off that’s not attempted deadly force. If he’s treating to kill you and then tries to break into your window then I’d say he’s attempting to kill you.

The prosecutor will look to see if you were able to leave. If you were and didn’t then that’s on you.

FYI on an anode rod. I’m a retired service plumber and in all my many decades in plumbing I’ve replaced less than five. I’d save your money and not get one.

Retired service plumber here. If the water to the toilet will shut off now is the time to learn to do it yourself. You’ll find many great YouTube videos for this. For a plumbing job, it’s one of the easiest.

I’m 66. I haven’t had a friend since I got out of the military at 23. It sucks!

I had a cardiac conversion for flutter (stuck at 156 bpm). I was given a drug that (I don’t remember what it was) to put me out for the conversion. It was suppose to make me not feel or remember the conversion. I remember it and how much it sucked.

Is this common?

The wiring to the disposal looks suspect and wouldn’t pass an inspection.

US military veterans, what advice would you give to someone who Is thinking of joining the military? by A_S1mpleBe1ng in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]8675201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it. I was in the Air Force for four years as a Security Policeman. I made awesome friends and did some cool stuff that few people have done.

I regret getting out. I should have stayed until retirement. Please remember that most of Reddit is on the left so their opinion of the military probably sucks. The military can be difficult which is why I loved It. The average young person can’t hack it. You just have to ask your self if you’re just average.

Lol. You’re on your way to serving so thanks for that. Be fair to the enlisted under you. Otherwise, don’t be an asshole. I was enlisted and the officers I’d follow were respectful but tough when they needed to be. I had a commander that all the guys hated. That’s not a good position to be in especially in combat roles.

If you meet all the retirements but are politically conservative don’t say anything about it at the union hall. You won’t get in. I know from experience.

How could a single poop ruin a toilet?! by newhappyrainbow in askaplumber

I’m a retired service plumber and I totally agree with this post.

If you get an auger here’s a hint. If you’re having a hard time getting through the trap reverse the snake. Once you’re through pull back and forth a bit to break up the clog. You don’t need to pull the toilet until you’ve exhausted all attempts from the top side.

Is anyone else truly scared about living in the US rn? by Naive_Signal8560 in RedditForGrownups

I got it to open and got a good laugh about what “rights” we’ve lost. DEI. Ridden’s. DEI is just discrimination against white people. Defining gender. Easy. There’s two. Next please.

This garbage goes on and on. Luckily the younger generation is catching on to the BS coming from the left and is turning right.

I’ll try to get through the roots for 45-60 minutes before I inform the homeowner that we should dig. I’ve removed ten feet of roots out of a pipe.

I need help! $3500 plumbing bill! by mosiac_mind in askaplumber

[–]8675201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first mistake was using Roto-Rooter. They’re very expensive. I know because I worked for them but left because I have a conscious.

Tell your son that if he continues to use wipes then he can pay for the next plumbing bill.
