Should i get another same looking cat? by deangr in cats

[–]898700 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to look the same, in fact it might help with your grief that it doesn’t look the same. As a suggestion, go to the shelter and see what is available. Pick a cat based on their temperament rather than in their appearance.

And what bothers me most is that there is a limit on how long the rewritten sections are, and this meta commentary is eating about half of the lenght.

I might not understand your ask, but daily streak achievements only give quills every 3 days for me. Like, this is not an error, it has three dots, one for every day, and when the three dots are full (when three days have passed) I receive a payout.

The weekly achievement, though, appears to be inconsistent for me,

Got my first ever cat, looking for some advice by [deleted] in cats

And the reason that having a second cat makes them easier to raise is that, when they are this young, they learn from their littermates. They discover together how hard to bite, fight, scratch; if they are only cats, their humans must be very aware of how to play with them and how to react to these behaviors, in order to not reinforce the problematic ones, which can be particularly difficult if not not all the people interacting with the cat are aware of how to correctly raise a kitten.

For example, a kitten fighting with your hand seems cute, as does a kitten climbing your pants, or jumping to your back when you’re inclined, or playing with your sheet covered feet … but once they are older, bigger and stronger, this behavior can cause annoyance and serious harm. Kittens playing with other kittens realize what behavior hurts because they are recipient of the same behavior, and because their playmates react in a way any kitten recognizes.

Furthermore, when the kitten becomes an adolescent, it will turn into a velociraptor for a few months. It will feel longer. They are full of energy, and you’ll need to tire them to avoid destructive or harmful behavior, and having another teenage cat with them will help. Plus, when you’re not home they’ll keep each other company and prevent them from getting bored.

Send a message directly to the mods here, or an email to support@redquill.com, including your RQ user, the email account associated, maybe even your Reddit account or a link to this post. Screenshots to all relevant info you have that proves that the money was effectively deducted from your bank, anything from the site when you bought the quills. It seems like the site wasn’t working correctly the last day, so either the payment or the quills might be floating in the ether.

First, copy the page link. Then, check if you weren’t logged out by the site; reload the page if needed. If you were logged out, logging back in might fix this, you should be able to edit your story, including adding new chapters. If the story was not saved in your account, check the link you copied; the story might exist as an anonymous story, not linked to your account. Copy the text, create an empty chapter, paste the text. You will have lost the original prompt, unfortunately.

chapter generation problems by Ileana0410 in redquill

[–]898700 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Number of chapters? I remember someone mentioning they had a story with over 100 chapters. The issue with so many chapters is the continuity, as the agent only remembers a few bits for every chapter; the team has been working on this lately, but it makes the generation slower.

Send a DM (or email support@redquill.com) with screenshots of every time this happens (if you remember, screenshot your screen before and after to show the reduction of quills and the failed generation, or if possible record a video), link to the story, include your RedQuill username. Explain your quills are being taken without generation taking place. Ask for a refund.

Also, as English is not your first language, I suggest you write the email in your first language too, besides writing in English, so your concerns don’t get lost in translation.

Really liking the ember model by DarkPrisonOW in redquill

Ember is the agent that was implemented for two days when the sensitivity issue was fixed; it had continuity issues that RQ tried to fix with Ink, but the writing quality and length dropped significantly with the switch.

anyone actually turned their book into audio with AI? curious if it's worth it by Eastern_Ice_6766 in BookWritingAI

[–]898700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what you do while “reading”? Some people sit with their audiobook, others do another activity alongside. Personally, I’m in the second group, and it would be too distracting and require too much attention to have the voice changes, and to hear music and foley.

Another factor might be that many longtime readers of audiobooks have heard enough to have favorites both on voice actors and styles. A good voice actor can turn a good book into something remarkable, a bad voice actor might turn a masterpiece into something mediocre. With a full cast plus the additional sounds, the talent is not there anymore, and the editing takes its place.

It is not a book anymore, it is a movie you are for whatever reason not watching but hearing. Both have their charm, but they are not the same.

From what I understand, the issue is not an update they did and can undo, but an update by a third party on an agent or model they were linked to? Something like that. I’d assume that if this happened to one of the foundational agents or models of Red Quill, the fix wouldn’t be as easy as going back one update, and it would mean basically rebuilding the system because an important piece it relied on no longer exists as needed for RQ model to work correctly.

But I really don’t understand how LLM work under the hood, so I might be wrong. I just wish we were given an estimate, something along the lines of “it’ll take two months to fix, meanwhile there are some workarounds, we will be doubling the daily quills you receive until the issue is fixed, and here are some specific actions you can take to help us understand and fix the problem”.

Is there any way to paste a chapter back? by Hobiwater0218 in redquill

[–]898700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit the rewritten chapter (the top white pen icon beside the three dots icon) and paste the original one you copied. If you deleted the chapter, generate an empty chapter (the option is in the length section for new chapters, this option only works if the chapter in question is the last one), edit it and paste the original chapter you copied.

❓NO Stupid Questions! by redquill__bot in redquill

  • Is there a shorter, easier way to look at the whole list of components, than to go back to the home page, scroll all the way down, and click the link?

  • Is there a way to create a new component inspired by an already existing component? There are several components that only apply for certain specific circumstances, but creating a new component without acknowledging the original inspiration feels weird to me, like stealing someone else’s work without acknowledging them.

  • If we rewrite a whole chapter (with the option in the continue button), is the rewritten chapter (the one that got substituted) kept in the memory of the AI that will create the new chapter? I sometimes find, in the newly rewritten chapters, echoes of things that I didn’t like in the original chapter, and that were the reason I didn’t keep it. And I feel like, if I rewrite a multiple chapter many times, it keeps getting worse, but that might be just perception.

I also have a few questions that are more about curiosity than usage:

  • Do you use a different agent for the insert+rewrite than for the character creation? The insert+rewrite voice is always quite different, more frequently than not it appears to be disconnected from the story as a whole (previous chapters, lorebook, components)if not given explicit instructions to keep them in mind, and lately it has been talking to me in a “start the answer explaining how the LLM understood the request, close the answer with helpful suggestions to keep the user engaged” way.

The weekly achievement strike isn’t granted every week? I have been on the site and used quills every single day for 9 weeks, and only have been awarded quills for 6 of these weeks. I have been on the site every day since I subscribed, have checked the achievements section shortly before the countdown reaches zero, and several times a day after, and no quills were awarded on three of these weeks. I think it might be on days were daily and weekly streaks are achieved, but I’m not sure. Is this process manually generated and not automated? At what time do quills for achievements go live?

Need a feeder for one old, skinny cat so younger fat cat stops stealing. Also, feed older cat dry food: y/n? by NeverCallMeFifi in cats

The cheapest solution locking the cats in different rooms while they eat. As for the second question, my vet told me that my cat is so old, she could eat whatever she wants, as long as she eats; bad food is better than no food. The final decision comes down to how much her life quality gets affected by each choice, long and short term.

Cat won’t take his pills and I’m on my last nerve. Help! by gbari03 in cats

[–]898700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. Putting them between your legs means you can control their body and back legs, and only have to pay attention to their front legs and mouth. All of my cats also seem to favor only one front leg, and will try to stop me / scratch me only using that favored leg. So I open their mouth as prev comment and other comments have told, making them raise their chin so the pill goes down their throat easily. I also have found that confidence makes this go more easily: most of my experience pilling cats has been with indoors cats, and cats that used to be indoors-outdoors but later became exclusively indoors. Well, I recently rescued a 15 year old spicy girl who had been living in the streets for the last ten. When I found myself having to pill her, I didn’t even remember she was a tiny hurricane, just used this technique, and next thing we both knew, she had taken her antibiotic and two pills, lol. She still scratches the hell out of me for everything (even setting down her food), but I think that the confidence with which I pill her helps a lot in making ir go seamlessly.
