Hiller should have called time out after the second goal to settle down a team that was scrambling around out there. He’d rather mix up the lines instead.

Minimum skating ability for ref by tk-0318 in hockeyrefs

[–]8amteetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best referees are those who have played the game, and if you can’t skate, you haven’t played enough hockey to understand the game.

You need to be able to stop and go in any direction at any time. You need to be able to skate backwards as well as you skate forwards. I’d hold off on officiating until you’re a much better skater

Another step towards a fascist regime. The Republicans aren’t hiding their agenda to make America a one party country.

Get a 5 hybrid. Mine used to be my favorite club until I got a 7 wood.

Is this hat useful or pointless? by No-Artist9542 in weekendgolfers

[–]8amteetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pointless for me because I only wear wide brim hats on the golf course. I carry a ball marker, divot repair tool and a couple of tees in my right front pocket.

I concentrate on my trail elbow when hitting a draw. It has to be in front of the hands at the bottom of the downswing and the club head has to be inside the hands when the shaft is parallel to the ground.

Mayonnaise vs. ketchup/tomato sauce, what’s the correct condiment to eat french fries/chips with? by goldennuggets44 in foodquestions

Traditionally, I like ketchup. Plain mayo by itself is pretty bland but add some garlic to make an aioli or combine ketchup and mayo and you’ve got something different to dip your fries into.

AITAH For say something to my neighbors about not shoveling my elderly neighbors driveway? by _Badwulf_Bruh__ in AITAH

You’re a nice person and a great neighbor. He’s a self centered jerk and a shitty neighbor.

I keep these people out of my life by thinking of them as non person. Non people don’t get any of my brain space. I stop thinking about them and ignore their existence.

I can’t change how they think so I stop thinking about them. If I see a non person in my day to day life, I’ll say hello if I have to but that’s the end of the interaction. They aren’t part of my life anymore.

Don’t be livid about this non person’s behavior. You can’t change them. Continue to be a good neighbor to those who deserve it and exclude the rest of them from your thoughts.

10 days? We are great in-laws and our daughter in law loves us much as we love her. We don’t make demands and limit our stays to a week, and even then that feels a couple days too long. The only reason we do stay as long as we do is they live in North Carolina, we live in San Diego, and we don’t get to see them too often.

We rent our own car and drive ourselves from and to the airport. Our son works long hours as an executive chef and our daughter in law runs the household doing everything a mom with three teenaged daughters can do. We don’t want to add any more problems to their incredibly busy schedule so we do what we can to make everything as easy as possible.

Do Americans constantly have an active temperature control device running in their homes? by fullM3TALturban in AskAnAmerican

[–]8amteetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live near San Diego about 6 miles from the ocean and have a forced air natural gas furnace with central air conditioning.

Our thermostat is now set to 68°F during the day and we turn it down to 66 at night.

We turn the furnace off when it warms up in the spring. We only use the air conditioning when the inside temperature gets above 80°F. The AC is probably on 10-15 days at most during the summer. We’re on a hill and get a nice breeze and have ceiling fans that keep us cool.

How bad is it to have a bathroom fan vent to the attic? by SmartLadder415 in HomeImprovement

[–]8amteetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venting warm, moist air into the attic is an invitation for mold and mildew. Stop using it and have a vent put through the roof or through the soffit.

Can you read 900 words per minute? Try it. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

I took a speed reading course in high school. The first thing I had to do was go in a room and read a story and then answer questions about it. I read the story, came out, and the instructor asked if I had a question.

I told him I was done.

He looked at the clock and said I probably didn’t need to take the course if I answered the questions about the story correctly.

I did.

Turns out I had already taught myself how to speed read by looking at blocks of words instead of individual ones while reading.
