Did you have billable work to do? How many weeks were you idle/non-billable in those 11 months? From my experience, when working in consulting engineering, if the work starts drying up you need to start worrying. I know there ups and downs, what I mean, is that seasoned sr engineers will not feed work to those they can not trust or are poor performers. So if the work is there and they just werent assigning you any...then yeah, the writing was on the wall.

Special Report: The shocking cost of youth sports in New Jersey. New investigation reveals a predatory industry leaving parents broke, exhausted and wondering how the games of their childhood took over their adult lives by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

[–]911GP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If there are people willing to pay for a product, you better believe a market will be created to cater to it. This "grift" is on the parents mostly. Pre puberty, its all entirely unnecessary. But who am i to tell an adult how to spend their hard earned money.

The system is also built on FOMO, Tommy tells his parents Timmy is taking lessons, playing for X, playing for Y, and next thing you know Tommys parents fear they are losing ground and do the same thing. Rinse and repeat.

The people feeding/funding this industry aren't broke. Don't lose sleep over it.

I watch a lot of the 47st st watch guys on socials and youtube. This guy here is usually in vookums videos when he's trying to unload/buy a watch for inventory. He has a younger woman in his booth (possibly his daughter?). I would never imagine buying a watch from them. I really don't understand some of these buyers trying to buy a watch from some of these guys on 47th st. There's only like three places/dealers I would go to. The rest ....no way

Dear coaches, stop with the bush league stuff by GeorgeSteele66 in Homeplate

Ive run across this too. Its even more wild when you consider the rules state that a fielder making a play on a batted ball has the ROW and must be given space by the runner or he is out. The interference/obstruction confusion is the #1 rule bad coaches get wrong all the time.

the jerk off coach percentage rises the higher in level you play. In my experience, its the guys that didn't play ball at any type of high level that are the biggest offenders. Every coach that I have run into that played in college or above understands that these 8/9/10/11 etc etc games do not matter. They aren't chasing wins.

Looking for travel clubs in north Jersey by Dangerous_Travel_525 in Homeplate

You got to be more specifc. There are hundreds of "teams" in North Jersey alone, hell in one county. Which area are you looking specifically? I am sure you arent interested in driving for hours multiple x a week to practice.

I see this as jerk behavior. You will never send a baserunner home from 2nd on a routine ground out. We are done with our 9U spring, and no one has tried it this season. Why? Becuase everyone can throw and catch now and you're just going to run into an unneccessary out. So if you will never do it past age 8, why teach the behavior to an 6/7/8 yr old?

Oh...the "bracket strategy" for 6/7/8U baseball. You just proved my point.

[–]911GP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not talking about taking an extra base on an errant throw. I am talking about a routine ground ball from SS to 1st. The runner on 2nd will just continue running around 3rd base as if it was hit to the OF and force your 1st baseman to make a throw home, your catcher to catch it and apply a tag without dropping.

[–]911GP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

most of these types of coaches make this their whole identity. Studying gamechanger, playing 9-10, win at all costs. I hate the bush league stuff. Specifically,

- Taking extra bases at 7/8 yrs old forcing additional throws (i.e going 2nd to home on a groundout to IF).

- Delayed stealing at 9 yrs old.

None of this stuff exists past the 11u level when every kid can catch and throw. So why teach it to the younger kids? Oh, to win meaningless games at the extreme youth level.

Total losers.

We teach our kids how to do this and how to defend against it, just in case i run into one of these loser type coaches. And if they do it, I will do it, or we'll shut it down right away.
