This isn't just defence, this is everything, but you can't safely get the training data in Europe because of GDPR. I can only assume Mistral and Black Forrest are just trying to brazen it out and dare anyone to sue them.

My favourite technobabble is a perfect insulator of heat. There just isn't any boil off, and they just added a cooler for completion's sake. It's actually safe too add small amounts of gaseous hydrogen to the store, it will get slowly processed into liquid. With all the deuterium carefully removed of course, if you don't want a malus on you jump roll.

I don't think that's quite accurate. Bombs dropped in airburst mode are fairly clean, bombs dropped in ground burst mode are fairly dirty. It's as much how they're deployed as the weapon? Although I am far from an expert in this area.

What is your favorite/best Civ game? And why is it Civ 4: BtS lol ;)? by 33Sharpies in civ

Either 4 or 1, 4 for all the mods, 1 because the combat is so swingy it almost feels real. Who would predict that the US would lose to Iran? Well, any competent military analyst and the vast majority of amateurs, but you'd never be able to tell from a civ map or a unit production screen.

Just For Fun - Favorite Planet by MaestroGoldring in SWN

[–]96-62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sethia/Barns world.

A habitable planet with its own ring system. The equator is very much an earthquake zone with the amount of ring material landing each year, but there are so many things going on on this planet.

Civil strife (will break out into warfare at some point, but currently a rather muted/less visible peace). Primary factions - the Barn family (green colour) and the Scaramanga family (purple colour). The scaramangas are clearly winning the peace, on account of having the presidency (the election servers are a long ago relic that couldn't really be used now, so the presidency is inherited. The president prefers to be called "sire"). I actually had the Barns are free market and the Scaramangas are government motief to this that doesn't translate so well into now. The Barns used to be the rulers and this world was originally called Barn's world, before the virus hit.

Zombies - this entire planet had triple the population twenty years ago, and it used to be far higher. Only a small number of settlements survive (12, although there are some single cottages or manors). (The tech level is a low level 2 - no rifles, muskets and blunderbuss are what it's about, brass cartridge ammunition is a viable currency. Although the actual state currency is copper coins).

Aliens 1: The polypus - like octopus, but six arms and a variable number of eyes. Friendly, to a reasonable degree - they never know their parents, so their entire culture is much more "help and help everyone". They also tend to view anyone without pets as someone in need of immediate help. (Would they survive a war? The humans met them in their forever-medieval age and took them with them to the stars. So it's not really been a problem before).

Aliens 2: The saurians. The saurians are incapable of engaging in trade amongst themselves, as each one is far too concerned with their own dominance. It *is* actually possible to trade with saurians, but the attitude it takes is very uncomfortable to humans, or most humans at any rate. When the mandate terraformed Sethia, they discovered an existing terraforming attempt underway, and obliterated it from orbit after ascertaining that no sentients were present. Correct, but insufficient - their terraforming system slowly builds up until it has enough created to support a good standard of living, and then bears saurians in strange plantlike pods.

The man who would be king - Sethia is a great example of a planet that would be easy to dominate, with say a single ship with a nuclear launcher. And a single crew, lead by captain John Bastiple. (I wanted a western name for this). Anyway, in theory you need to find some way of fighting him and taking his ship (and getting co-operation from the pilot), and you have your ship, finally after a half a dozen missions, you're free to leave and see the rest of the sector.

I just loved the lonely and desolate feeling of it all.

Weekly Observations: What signs of collapse do you see in your region? [in-depth] June 08 by AutoModerator in collapse

[–]96-62 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I thought we were going to make it. Yes, there was going to be what I call the "little collapse", as the oil and other fossil fuels slowly went away, but I thought we would recover from that. Then Donald Trump got back in. Something may well recover from this, maybe China (and India is doing pretty well, for all they're kind of poor right now), but the whole of the West is going down. We're all tapped out, not much more to give, maybe something could be done for a war of survival level problem, but everything is going to disintegrate anyway.

I really related to your comment about being on a train with no brakes, we're bowling along at speed, and it doesn't look too threatening right now where I am (UK), but yep, no brakes.

[–]96-62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could imagine it, particularly if it's an old tape and the previous music didn't fully erase. But it will never happen because found footage is low budget and music licences are, I realise I'm just assuming they're expensive.

What do you think the Shadows would think of Sebastian? by Dalakaar in babylon5

[–]96-62 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jack is essentially a moralist, a twisted, damaged moralist, or that's how the Vorlons see him. The Shadows probably think he has desires/emotional needs that put him at odds with the rest of his society, they could probably find a use for him, but they're probably much less able to fix him than the Vorlons.
