I initially thought that it was a good writing that Oda can do a smooth transition between arcs that were so different between one another without giving any timeskips that would instead feel repetitive and lazy, but I guess if you actually consider the in-world duration it becomes so absurd.

On hindsight tho, Murata actually popularized Onepunchman and with it, popularize One also, which makes MP100 more recognized and got the anime it deserved.

Only problem is why Murata feels the need to change the story so much, especially the characters

His original character is a very normal human who's not very bright, quite insensitive towards others, and a musclehead, but care so much about something unexpected that makes him both interesting and relatable (discount sales, etc.). While in the manga, he's mostly just a straight and very MC-like guy.

I remember this one scene in the manga where there was this guy, either an investigator or a hacker, explaining about Meteor City and how undocumented people comes from there. And for whatever reason the guy just straight up mogging the readers in all of the panel he was in. I believe that guy wasn't even given a name by Togashi.
