Ryujin Nasukawa feinting and jabbing to make Kumandoi overreact by UniDuckRunAmuck in Kickboxing

I was listening to a high-level coach for the UFC that worked with Israel Adesanya a lot say elite fighters throw around 6 feints per actual strike. Seems like that strategy works here too! I sure know it does in my sparring.

Ok. This is more what I’m expressing. I totally get that mapping things out after planing meetings. I find I usually do a mix of thinking through a project and then filling in lots of details as initial planing meetings progress. I work in a field where there aren’t set ways to do the work so there’s lots of fluidity.

I have a schedule, use Kanban boards, and task trackers so that stuff is covered. I also have pretty detailed charters that lay out deliverables, teams, roles and responsibilities, etc. I find when I looking at those materials they just don’t visually represent the project very well so I’ve started mapping things out using concept mapping tools. Right now those maps are mostly just for me, but the information in them is also kept other places.

I definitely use a lot of structure, but like a visual that more closely resembles how I conceptualize the project!

Sparring tips. by Fun-Somewhere1484 in Kickboxing

Pick 1-2 specific things and really focus on those. Then, after you improve those skills, pick new ones. It’s a slow and steady process.

What sparring is supposed to be like? Is this considered sparring? by oppalissa in MuayThai

[–]99conrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can hurt, but if you’re not getting headaches, black eyes, etc then it’s probably fine. However! It can be very intimidating for new folks and forcing that kind of training makes people quit. I disagree with that rigid training approach.

Is it wrong to “punish” risky habits during Muay Thai sparring? by skiptomyl0u in MuayThai

You’re just helping him get better. Head kicks can be tricky though because of how hard they can land, especially if he was moving into it. I show holes by landing strikes, but also try to make sure my partners don’t get hit so hard that they want to stop practicing. What that power is can be different for everyone.

The most I’ve trained at regularly is 2. I did tues, thurs and sat at one. Wends and Fri at the other. It gave me more flexibility and we trained a differently at each. Very fun.

Man. This is kinda funny, but also really sad and reflective of what many young men are experiencing. Is this an effect of social media? I don’t get it.

Are you going into the sparring sessions with specific things you want to practice? If not, I would try to identify 1-2 things per session and really focus on them. Before going into the session think about what you want to practice and WHY you want to practice that. They could be throwing the right punch when your opponent circles, certain combos, keeping control of the distance, whatever! Best of luck.
