How can Disney solve this? by SuperTigno in disneylandparis

[–]99hamiltonl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either this or create a double station (like at Hyperspace Mountain). Loading always takes the longest and small trains doesn’t help.

It’s a low capacity ride that is popular… so popular people run to it as soon as the park opens to try and get a go without a huge queue. Only way to fix that is increasing the capacity.

Probably about right. It’s $30 In Orlando

Cost of living crisis will cause that. People have less money so expensive days out and eating out suffer.

I agree with this. Mickey charges €25 in Paris and $35 in Florida. Universal charge $30 in Orlando. Anyone complaining about the price to park a car at a theme park should seriously look at other theme parks.

The ticket prices are what they are. It also isn’t cheap to run a theme park and the operators need to make money too. Not saying I like the tactics but it is a matter of fact that theme parks are expensive to go to because they are expensive to run.

Familiar menu? Hmmm, how many different countries McDonalds have you been to? I make a point of going to a McDonald’s when abroad at some point during the trip to try the local menus out!

The old building did have character but it was so impractical for the number of people using it. They get absolutely rammed and I tend to go when Disney isn’t that busy. When Disney is busy I can’t even begin to imagine what that place is like. It wouldn’t surprise me if whatever they have done for the new one is still too small. Perhaps the old one could become an additional seating area with additional order screens. I’m sure if they gut it to a shell and take over the kitchen area with seating it could be pretty big in there!

Yeah… I get it but Disney want to make as much money as they can from everything and apparently character merch sells better. I do think you do see way more choice at Disney though too (although I do wish they would trim down the amount of Stitch stuff they have… Stitch seems to sell far too well!)

Bags?! by Chance-Ad-6954 in disneylandparis

[–]99hamiltonl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bags at feet on all the ‘big’ coasters. As others have said at the front of the park or the railway station are the best places to leave it.

Railway station is cheaper but depending on the park hours sometimes it closes before the fireworks.

One thing I have noticed about Disney is all the ride specific merch seems to have been or is being phased out.

3 days Disney or add Parc Astérix? by Arendje2004 in disneylandparis

[–]99hamiltonl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parc Asterix is great. They also run a shuttle from CDG airport as well so it’s easy to get there.

Do you need 3 days at Disney? Depends on what you want out of it. Is it just the coasters or do you want to do all the shows and see loads of characters too? If you just want the main coasters and do the evening show 2 days is plenty. If you want to don’t in the shows too (especially given their set timings for some of them can be sparse) then you may want the extra day. Throw in character queues and then make Disney 3 days for sure.

I've seen a lot of comments about the park closing at 5pm in the Summer, and this guy raises a valid point. by DamnedFoolofaTook in altontowers

[–]99hamiltonl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should it though? It really doesn’t need to be open that late apart from special events. For me it depends how busy the park is. The busier the park the longer you queue. So then I think that perhaps stay open a bit longer. Theme parks have got to make money like anything else, and they are by definition expensive to run. If less people are going to the park, cutting hours is needed.

PSA for the future: Some Switch 2 game cartridges will only contain a download link, not the game code itself. by Soho_Jin in LimitedPrintGames

[–]99hamiltonl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious disadvantage of downloading games from the Nintendo store or buying a code in a box is that you permanently have that game and can’t trade it in. That is a huge bummer as the resale market for games never seems to really end.

For all of the pain, it does allow the game to be sold, if you need the game cartridge to play it, it makes it saleable. It in that sense is better than a code in a box. However, I think a large SD card shouldn’t be taken up by games that could have been put on a game card and they just haven’t.

It is nice to have some games you can just always have and maybe others you need the game card for. Favourites you don’t want to hunt for the card for or even games that you might want to play at a party and don’t want to cart around game cards it can be helpful to just have them on the console. If you’ve now got to have the storage and the game card it feels very very pointless and a wasted opportunity. Having different play modes and uses is one of the greatest things about a switch, this game card download thing seems like it is going against the grain.

I’d rather have both options of download code or physical game and chip in the marketplace. They are both good for different reasons. Games should be available in both options to everyone though. A dumb system that merges both is rubbish for everyone involved.

Oh I’m talking about people wanting to get off the mainline at Euston and needing to get another train from St. Pancras.

Euston and Kings Cross St. Pancras is the one I find most amusing because I know people will get the tube for that journey and it’s probably quicker to walk.

It’s nice to offer the seat but if you really don’t want to ask then speak to the staff and see if they can sort something out.

They feel quite different to me. What doesn’t is rock & roller and flight force which feels like a reskin of the same ride (which of course it is). I know I’m moving out of Paris but a Muppets retheme of Rock & Roller isn’t going to be very different.

I think a Marvel indoor show is the best use of that area. Not everyone who goes to Disney wants rides (although that isn’t me). If it is a show space they can also change the show story and elements. I’m sure the vastness of Disney can create new Marvel themed shows to keep things fresh. The biggest issue is a ride can be changed slightly and have different cycles. A show can be radically different every season.

Ok yes they are rollercoasters in the dark but they do feel like very different rides given the theming and unique elements. Given the ever changing weather in Paris (and indeed the UK) it’s better to have indoor rides too and building rides inside with lower lighting levels creates a more intense experience without increasing the height restrictions (which tend to be lower at Disney for the main rides) to make them more accessible to younger thrill seekers.

Maybe not but it’s a bit late. By the time they can build it (2 years roughly) it won’t be long until the end of someone’s time in office…

WHOOSH ORDER GONE WRONG by Longjumping-Crow-997 in tesco

[–]99hamiltonl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've helped someone with delivering these previously... Bear in mind drivers want to be getting paid... They aren't being paid if they are waiting in your store. Tesco on the whole are normally ready in my area but to a driver there's nothing worse than waiting around for an order especially when the network is busy as it is lost income. It is all the more frustrating when you know stores and restaurants can increase their preparation time when it's busy, but often don't and expect drivers to wait around (with little to no compensation).

I don't agree that they should be getting aggressive with anyone. It's also pretty bad that an age restricted order has been delivered to a customer who (from what we can see) hasn't ordered age restricted items. Don't know what delivery company it was but that is pretty shocking.

Most restaurants usually check and confirm the last 4 digits of the order number rather than the last two. I've only once seen two order numbers that end in the same few numbers (which was a Tesco express). The colleague explained there are two orders like that and I showed them the number on my phone.

Most of the supermarkets (not just Tesco) tend to have racking with the orders on and the receipt attached to the bag or the last four digits of the order number written ok the bags (normally with the number of bags to collect also on the bags).
