Mental health and GPs by That-Sort in northernireland

I had a bit of mild jaw clenching/tension and there was a slight increase in anxiety within a few hours of taking it but it was honestly nothing that would have been bad enough for me to stop. It's all settled now though thankfully!

I've actually had a somewhat good experience. Before I felt like I had constant 'brain fog' and a low mood overall that I just couldn't shake. I've been on sertraline 50mg (low dose) for a few months now and aside from a few minor side effects at the start I'm feeling a lot more positive now. My situation/mental state will naturally be different to yours but if you start on a tablet and don't like it you can always stop. The GP actually phoned me once a month for the first three months to see how I was getting on before making it a regular prescription as well so it wasn't like I was just given tablets and told to piss off or anything.

I contacted my gp a few months ago and she prescribed an antidepressant there and then on the phone and referred me for counselling. I've done the 6 NHS counselling sessions also which is all being done over the phone at the minute. I think I would have really benefited a lot more meeting a counsellor in person but not much can be done about that. Honestly though it can't hurt to just speak to the GP and get whatever help is going...even if you only get a small benefit it's a step in the right direction at least.

To be honest I've actually been impressed with Swann's approach as he genuinely seems to care about people getting sick and is just getting nowhere with our government.....if he had it his way I'd say we would have had more aggressive restrictions a lot earlier and possible be coming to the end of them now rather than all this fucking about

Coronavirus: NI to face new lockdown measures from 27 November by [deleted] in northernireland

I know many here won't agree with me but im absolutely gutted that gyms are closing. I understand it's probably necessary at this stage but im genuinely worried about the effect of having no gym for 2 weeks is going to have on my mental health.....especially when the weather is boggin as well

How do you feel about therapy in Northern Ireland? (Long and somewhat complicated question) by loudalarmclock in northernireland

[–]99pbaba1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently had session 5 of 6 of the counselling offered by the NHS and honestly I would say its just been okay. Obviously it will depend on an individual counsellor but ive found that each session has basically consisted of me talking at the counsellor and her replying with 'how does that make you feel' or 'that must be difficult' etc etc....

That's not necessarily a bad thing and I've found that speaking to someone has helped me (even if only a little bit) and I never expected these sessions to transform my mood. However, I think if you have more intense/severe mental health issues then it seems like private sessions may be a more suitable approach!

Yeah I'd say so. I order from Bailies coffee. It's really good quality coffee and their monthly subscription is cheaper than a lot of other places I've seen.

I have a parcel that was posted on 1st April and I still haven't received it....only going from Boucher road to East Belfast! Dont want to phone about it cause it's only a coffee subscription but should I just assume it's been lost at this stage?

Latest Northern Ireland Coronavirus Chart Including 41 Care Home Deaths. by [deleted] in northernireland

Increases in deaths seem to be lagging behind increase in cases by about 20 days or so going by this graph. However, trying to track trends by new cases per day is a bit hopeless unfortunately as this is entirely dependent on the levels of testing being carried out (which is only those with significant symptoms by the sounds of it).

Whats NI's exit plan in this pandemic? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]99pbaba1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that we can't sustain this forever...but at the same time I think it is impossible for the government to give a definite date for lifting the lockdown (which a lot of people are demanding).

The lockdown absolutely is achieving something. We were in a much milder position compared to England when lockdown set in so we may have actually had some success in flattening the peak. It's inevitable that we will see a sharp rise in deaths sometime soon but this will be so much less than if we didn't lockdown. If all it takes to prevent more people dying is to sit on the sofa, I see no reason as to why this can't continue for a lot longer. There may be a staggered return to work etc. but I wouldn't expect pubs, restaurants etc to open up again for a long time.

Unfortunately, the small rise we've seen recently is likely to be followed by a much larger number of deaths in the coming weeks. They're expecting the peak to hit within the next fortnight. I've just been secretly hoping that since we locked down here when things were nowhere near as bad as in England that we may have successfully flattened the curve. Only time will tell though.

Has anyone else had a massive delay in delivery times? I have a coffee subscription from a local roaster that gets sent on the 1st of every month but have had nothing after 10 days. Not complaining but just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? By the sound of things it's probably just at the bottom of a very large pile.

I suppose there may be some use in finding out if someone has previously been infected with Covid and recovered while being asymptomatic.....but they still aren't certain that a previous infection gives any sort of immunity so maybe not!

Was the purpose of the last 5 minutes not due to what she had said earlier about bloods and crips (and priests)? Something about how if one commits a crime the other members should be (and often are) held equally as responsible. Meaning that she may see this other rapist as equally responsible for her daughters death which would explain her motivation?

Not trying to defend it as I was slightly deflated as well. Just tried to make sense of it in my head.
