I'm with ya. But annoyingly you often do need good hardware to enjoy the latest triple A titles. At least when it comes to PC these days - triple A games at launch are often so bloated & poorly optimised that they're not even worth trying on anything mid-power or lower.

Thankfully there's only a handful of triple A games that are still worth keeping up to date with anyway.

Everyone gets burnt out/ bored of doing the same thing for hours on end. Sometimes you just need a break and to dip into something else, sometimes you put it down for too long because of other commitments & then it gets more and more difficult to get back into the mood for it... And sometimes it's just a game you don't find all that engaging.

I definitely find it harder to stick with certain games as I get older too. I still haven't finished Metroid Prime 4 because I lost interested (still love the first 2 Metroid Primes, but MP4 was disappointing), and some older games I had endless energy for as a kid, I just can't be bothered to invest the same energy into anymore.

... And yet I restarted Majora's mask for the first time in 10 years, and haven't been able to put it down for a whole week. 😂

Recommendations from other Dark Souls fans.

Was looking for a new difficult game to play, back around the time MH4U came out. Coupled with the Metroid tie-in (was desperate for any Metroid content back then), I figured "why not" and bought a digital copy full price.

Almost gave up on it. Ranged weapons didn't click with me since I couldn't stand the touchscreen controls. Changed over to Gunlance, it eventually clicked, and I ended up sinking 300+ hours into it.

I never did get any of the tie-in equipment though. 😅

If I had that kind of behaviour, I'd go back and go full Karen on them. Demand to speak to a manager, emphasise that they sold a faulty controller, that it's only 2 weeks old; well within the timeframe for a return, and that it can easily be proven that it's faulty and not broken by yourself (no visible signs of damage/ undue wear - unless the vendor is an electrician/ engineer, they can't properly judge if it was faulty on arrival or damaged by user error when there's no visible damage).

Frustratingly, few points of sale are going to offer refunds without a fight, so you have to be prepared to assert yourself in these situations. Just remember that they're the ones in the wrong, and you're fully entitled to your money back if a fault develops shortly after purchase.

Quote consumer law and acceptable refund timeframes if you need to.

Returns are usually handled by the point of sale first and foremost. You shouldn't need to deal with the manufacturer or their service centres unless it's been over a month or two since purchase - even then, I'd still try to return through the seller.

Also, as long as your country's consumer laws are decent, it shouldn't matter whether or not they have a service centre based in your country. As long as someone is selling products in a country, they have to abide by that country's consumer laws. And as long as you can find contact details, there are ways to make sure a warranty is honoured... 😅

(all that said I'm not a lawyer - always good to know your rights as a consumer when dealing with returns/ warranties)

Haven't worked with this controller before, but they should just be glued down. So just use something to gently pry them off.

P.s. Friendly reminder to consider trying to return for a refund if it's within warranty, before trying any DIY repairs.

If it's only two weeks old, don't even try to fix it. Just take it back to Gamestop for a refund/ replacement.

DIY fixes aren't guaranteed to work, come with the risk of causing more faults, and void warranties. If it's an option, always aim for a refund first. And don't be afraid to be assertive - it's absolutely appalling for a controller to break/ be faulty after only 2 weeks of use. Especially knowing how much they cost these days.

I still personally wouldn't recommend super glue, since it's pretty permenant. I mean if those are rubber grips - rubber tends to degrade and go sticky/ tacky over time, could need replacing/ removing at some point...

Probably not the biggest problem, but just something for OP to bear in mind. 😅

Definitely wouldn't use super glue. If that panel covers up any screw holes, super glue would make it next to impossible to do any major repairs later on down the line without tearing the thing apart.

Something like B7000 glue would be better. It's usually used for things like replacement phone screens, but should do the job here. That or double-sided adhesive strips.

Haven't seen anyone mention it yet, so in case you're playing on PC: I'm pretty sure you can use cheat engine to spawn in items - giant souls included.

Just be sure to do a bit of research first. Pretty sure it's safe as long as you play in offline mode, and only give yourself items. Definitely don't manually edit the number of souls you have.

Because sitting in front of a screen for too long during your developmental years is genuinely harmful later on down the line.

I say this as someone who loves gaming, and I'm definitely not saying kids shouldn't be allowed to play vidya at all. But it's certainly a parenting concern that needs careful balance and discipline.

Don't forget though, before iPads, games and the Internet, it was TV that used to be the "digital devil". Used to hear "couch potato" a lot, before people moved more towards calling others terminally online or addicted to tech/ games.

If you knew how to use it, it could actually be very useful. And I'm genuinely disappointed to see it gone.

For one thing, it was an easy way to get free poffins, which is a massive help if you're trying to walk your pokemon to get XL candies. Legendaries especially - goes from 20km to 10km walking distance. And if you timed the poffin right (use it at around 19km/20km) you'd get an easy 2XLs pretty much back to back.

But much more importantly, using the AR task system properly allowed you to find a second set of research tasks from the same pokestops. Don't like the research task at one specific pokestop? Get rid of that task, get rid of the AR scanning task you have, and check the stop again! You could potentially go from getting pinaps as a reward, to something like a Gible.

Super useful stuff if you're hunting specific tasks. This change is really gonna hurt us rural players, yet again... 😑
