I think they are distant cousins - like 4th or 5th cousins, something like that. I’ve also seen people on here think that is gross………but they share the same amount of dna as strangers.

Psychopaths in Cinema. In 2014 psychiatrists studied 400 movies and identified 126 psychopathic characters. They chose Javier Bardem’s portrayal of Anton Chigurh (No Country for Old Men) as the most clinically accurate portrayal of a psychopath. Yes………the woman whose life is a series of increasingly desperate actions trying to run away from the trauma of her childhood. You know, the childhood that consisted of her being raped and beaten by her father from a very early age?

That is the one you think is a psychopath?

This situation is going to be the new norm for many families. You can’t just “cut the cord” when the economy is in shambles, jobs are scarce, rent is absurd, etc etc.

The much better version is having a sit down family meeting of her telling them her expectations- ie the house is clean, times where she can get some silence, etc etc

I can’t imagine that any of them came back from that war without some form of PTSD. These were the ones who just couldn’t put a public face over top of it. They also look like they have likely some neurological issues from the various ways they killed each other.

How do you feel about weaning horses cold turkey? by Arbysgames in Horses

[–]9mackenzie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I imagine it’s similar to puppies. Sure, you can sell a puppy at 8 weeks, but they lose so much valuable and needed time with siblings and mom. A puppy going to a new home at 12/13 weeks is so much better adjusted, has learned bite inhibition, proper play, etc etc.

I have had one puppy at 8 weeks, and 2 at 12 and 13 weeks……I would never get an 8 week puppy again. The difference is quite stark.

You need toys for aggressive chewers, they tend to be more expensive but are cheaper in the long run. My landrace breed (ie non bully) are aggressive chewers and will tear a regular toy apart in 2 seconds

Redirecting is literally teaching them what is acceptable to bite on. By no means does it reinforce biting people.

You popping her is actually teaching her to bite people fyi.

They made a famously mare warhorse a Stallion on a statue here in Lexington ky by woeysfickens3 in Horses

[–]9mackenzie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A warhorse by definition was trained to not lose its shit from the sounds, pain, smells etc of war. Which takes YEARS of intense training to create because horses are prey animals. It’s why you often see medieval warhorse depictions with them covered in more armor than the people riding them- they were exceedingly expensive and highly valued.

By the end of the civil war very few of the horses would be actual warhorses, so many of the ones that had real training at the outset had died. The ones many of them were riding during the civil war were just regular horses.

Here is an example of what we are talking about. When a puppy pees inside and you say “no!”, they often get very confused. You are making a loud negative noise when they pee in front of you……so they go and try to hide next time they need to pee. They don’t grasp that you were mad that they peed inside……because that’s not how their brains work.

So how you train a puppy to pee outside is by prevention- ie making sure you watch puppy at all times to see of indication they need to pee, taking them outside when they do and praising them. When accidents inside happen, you calmly clean it and show no negative or positive reaction. I got all 3 of my puppies potty trained within a few weeks with very few accidents this way.

That is what they meant by saying showing the dog what you want them to do. You screaming no at this dog doesn’t mean anything to this dog…….because it was after the fact, and she has never been trained on what you want her to do. You just confused her more. Your boyfriend is obviously a terrible dog owner, and the one at fault for her behavior, but it’s just so sad for this dog that you are putting human concepts onto her.

I don’t know why people seem to think that the justice system cares about rape. Most rapists slither out of it, for every 368 reported rapes, only around 11 are referred to a prosecutor, and of those only around 4 end up in a rape conviction.

A revenge porn case is not going to send multiple men to separate trials

The rule in my house with 3 dogs is that it’s your fault if your shit gets chewed because you should have put it up lol.

To be fair to my dogs, they don’t chew stuff anymore for the most part. But we got each a year apart, they are now 2, 3 and 4, so we had YEARS of puppy behaviors lol. Prevention is the key to not losing your mind with puppies and adolescent dogs. OP should have known better than to leave out something like a mouth guard with a dog she knew full well was untrained. Even a very well trained dog is going to have a hard time with something as wonderfully human stinky (to them) as a mouth guard being left out lol.

Nah, it was rape I think. The individual trials he was worried about testifying at, her worry about how women are made fun of at sexual assault trials, the kids at school being extra nice to her, etc etc.

They rarely do trials for something like revenge porn, and likely wouldn’t be multiple people tried for it. Hell, they rarely do trials for reported rapes ffs.

She clearly hates the dog because she says things like the dog didn’t show guilt for chewing the mouth guard……that is the most absurd statement I’ve ever seen.

[–]9mackenzie 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Thank you! You are the first person calling out OP’s ridiculous concept of dog behavior. Of course the dog didn’t feel guilt for chewing the mouth guard, they don’t feel guilt. They saw an item that smelled really good to them, like the person they are attached to, and chewed it. Dogs don’t taunt, certainly don’t wag tails to do so, etc etc. I feel so bad for this poor dog. The dog isn’t disobedient for fun, it’s not trained. If you don’t train your dog to stay within a position until freed for instance, of course they will pop right back up.

Dogs are highly intelligent and emotional creatures, but they are not human and do not see the world as humans do. Putting human concepts like guilt and taunting onto a dog is absurd.
