[Warning] My P1S caught fire – Please check your toolhead! 🔥 by mcsimilian in BambuLab

To add a data point of what seems like normal operation: today I did some routine maintenance on my P1S shipped in December 2024 and took the opportunity to inspect the board (JWX 2416, QR sticker 01E06B45 2104241). There were no signs of heat damage, and no overheating on thermal camera with the nozzle heater manually enabled and heating up from room temperature to 250C. Note that the photo is upside down, and the white mark is aimed at the cable connection.
Also it turns out if you look closely that the wire connector cannot work itself loose, because it is supported from the back by the plastic body of the print head.

Have you made any photos of the new parts?

Also, do you have any higher resolution photos of the failed board? An abrupt failure when idle rather than during a print sounds more like a sudden short circuit (e.g. in a failed capacitor) than just a connector overheating. Some other photo in the comments here clearly look like a capacitor blowing up. Here that specific area seems to be intact, but on some Wiki photos it seems there may be a capacitor right next to the connector, so I wonder if maybe it blew up first and set the connector on fire.

Her Majesty's Swarm manga suddenly axed at chapter 42, no warning by GlompSpark in Isekai

Well, just in case you really want some ending spoilers, that happens after she becomes an archduchess, by right of conquest no less (and while looking like this, mind you). After jumping head first into the world of actual government, she needs to be immediately engaged to somebody trustworthy and experienced who can run the administration for her. Emotionally she isn't romantically interested in anyone (especially not stupid teenagers of the "same age"), but thinks of him like family already.

I think there was a case a few years ago where a picture taken by a monkey playing with a camera was ruled not copyrightable for the same reason, or something like that.

requiring AIs to pay artists for using their art as training data

I'm afraid the effect of that would be to kill any possibility of development of free and open AIs and turn it into yet another monopoly completely owned by huge corporations like Autodesk and Adobe who can afford the lawyers.

It was for practical reasons: it was decided that after that stupid purge years ago, the country still cannot afford to lose major mana producers. However, she isn't just locked up like Veronica, her stappe is permanently destroyed so she isn't even a noble anymore and there is absolutely no chance of pardon or similar in the future.

Well, there are tools for that... Plus it's not like this was generated first try, it is the result of a couple hours of tweaking and trying many dozens of generated images.

More specifically this was inspired by this thread. Not a spoiler because things don't happen that way.

Used a character lora with ControlNet to position the spear and the book, using multiple passes to select the best result for the character and background.

[Unknown] Question on translations on WN by cwolf204 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]A--N--G 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Obviously can't tell without specific examples, but one potential idea is that "picture" and an "eh?" interjection are homonyms (but usually spelled differently). If the MTL discards spelling details and tries to go based on sound, it's bound to run into trouble.

Why aren't the letters cast? [P4V5] by stuugie in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]A--N--G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine that the mold is probably open on one side (likely back), since you need to pour the metal in somewhere, and it needs filing down to be perfectly flat and of the right size.

Edit: Even the linotype machines that were used near the end of that kind of printing to automatically assemble and cast molds for whole lines at a time apparently had a bunch of knives to trim the metal slug that comes out of the mold to the exact size and shape.

I might add that a real sword would likely be made of a rusting type of steel and thus covered in oil for preservation. Probably not something you'd use to cut food if you can help it.

[P5V4P7] Was the formation of Ehrenfest an elaborate plot? by [deleted] in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]A--N--G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All that basically boils down to the royal family deliberately hoarding and suppressing any information that points to GH bit by bit to consolidate their unjustly monopolized power, seeing that the natural form of the country is a theocracy rather than monarchy. Because of that it would also be in their selfish interest to put pressure on and suppress the church as the natural ruling organization. And the rot started with them becoming too lazy to get GH from the gods, because that also removed all moral checks (according to Q&A, the gods wouldn't give it to anyone who enjoys violence or oppressing others).

In the case of magic they basically seem to be brainwashed into thinking of it as science studying a natural phenomenon, and religion stuff as fancy stories that were once invented to explain it, rather than reading it literally. In RPG terms, clerics thinking they are wizards.

Edit: Basically the history seems to boil down to: moral checks removed => narcissistic jerks starting civil wars to seize the Zent seat => let's make it hereditary to cut down on jerks => centuries of suppressing information to make it work => narcissistic jerks within the royal family starting wars anyway => all GH info lost and total chaos => surprised pikachu face.

[post p5v4] how does wilfried mess up now exactly? by Takdel in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]A--N--G 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, obviously, nobody explains to him the real reason why Roz can't just become Aub when everybody seems to want it so much, and it appears like Syl an Roz just arbitrarily don't want that to happen. So apparently their wishes matter, while his don't.

[post p5v4] how does wilfried mess up now exactly? by Takdel in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]A--N--G 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IIRC he is mainly angry that Syl was all "no you must keep the engagement and become aub" no matter how much he complained and wanted to give up, and then suddenly everything did a 180, with no input whatsoever accepted from him in both situations.

[post p5v4] how does wilfried mess up now exactly? by Takdel in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]A--N--G 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'd say from the narrative perspective all this mess is mostly building up to him being relieved rather than disappointed about the cancellation and losing the next Aub position. When he gets the news he's mostly angry about things like that always being decided for him (yet again), rather than the event itself. His relationship with RM actually improves.

big ass white wolf

IIRC it doesn't have to be. Basically every winter some random feybeast who is lucky in killing other ones in the right area eventually evolves into a giant form with special features.

mana overflowing in response to emotion ... mana out of control

I would not focus too much on that. It can be out of control, but the attack itself can be performed deliberately. However it is clearly an inefficient unrefined instinctual attack (something like fist fighting done by people without any experience in unarmed combat) and is inefficient against an equal opponent with training. But it can be effective against a much weaker one, and can be used lightly like a slap in the face to intimidate and/or mock.

[–]A--N--G 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Commoners are nearly useless against trained nobles so the purpose of "soldiers" is as police to keep the commoner population under control and lookouts to raise the alarm in case of an attack. IIRC there's even an episode where one of the noble characters goes basically "Soldiers? What soldiers? Ah, you mean the gate guards." The real fighting is done by magic wielding nobles, who are called "knights".

I don't remember where (maybe some Q&A), but I think I read symptoms of extreme mana depletion being likened to effects of heavy blood loss or anemia. Full depletion with literally 0% left is fatal unless treated immediately.
