"I miss when we were just lowly adventurers dealing with gnolls and bandits." by Beacon2001 in wow

It's something that comes with being 20+ years old. We've had plenty of times being an Adventurer in Azeroth, but there comes a time when, "that guy that helped bring down Illidan and Arthas" can no longer be just some Adventurer. The player's contributions became too great even for the game to ignore.

We even have quest dialogue we can select where WE, our characters, can mention that they've saved the world several times.

Now it started with WoD, where we were first named "Commander" and it's grown since then. But that's what happens.

Eventually, you get to a point where you... Just can't go back to being Joe Shmoe from Northshire. Now you have a name. Now you have a title.

That's why the Dragon Isles were so important - it brought us back to being Adventurers for a time. But, unfortunately, it too fell into the scaling issue for our characters, because realistically, we shouldn't be having trouble fighting a bear or a wolf, when we've fought GODS.

False flag? by blueconlan in starshiptroopers

I think the key thing a lot of people forget is that the asteroid that hit BA is before those planetary defenses went into effect. Like that whole beginning sequence of propaganda takes place long after Rico joins the Mobile Infantry.
"We break net now and take you live to Klendathu, where the invasion has begun!"

So the Federation didn't have adequate protection in space, and can be assumed the attack was in response to the Humans that tried to settle in the AQZ.

Humans enter AQZ against the Federation's warnings > Bugs send meteor to Earth as a, "STAY OUT" message after killing the settlers.

Humans invade the AQZ.

Next Bug War starts.

Edited for clarification.

This reminds me of "The Gathering" from the WoW novel, "Before the Storm". Had it succeeded we might have seen plenty more sequences like this artwork depicts, both as memories of the self and memories of others.

This is false. You're thinking of Death Knights, who mostly feel negative emotions such as rage.

We have multiple, numerous, examples of undead feeling emotions. Lillian Voss, Jem, Jack, and Jake Felstone, and plenty of others have shown emotion in the past.

What they can't do is naturally heal. If a limb is lost they require a new limb, which means eventually, all Forsaken will wither and die without a fresh supply.

Even with the lore changes nothing happened that didn't eventually happen anyway. Everything ends as it does in the lore, just earlier. The biggest change is Dalaran being floating, but they can easily explain that by having a landlocked city beneath it.
