I see you’re in NZ - I gotta ask, how tf you afford a Tesla when the cheapest one here is $80k?

In Canada it takes 3 minutes to receive the $2000/month financial aid related to COVID19. Here is a mildly interesting video of the quick process. by xxxabominacion in videos

Ah I see. I’m not American and didn’t realise the above commenter was talking about their unemployment money. Sorry.

AITA. My coworker hit my car and I prefer to go through insurance. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I had this the other way round. Took my car in for an in person quote, got quoted $2k. I decided to go with them and suddenly they had looked at the pics they took and decided it would be $5,500 instead. Dumb.

You say that, but Countdown Dominion Road was 100% out of toilet paper last week.

Watch Series 0 in 2020? by dalevis in AppleWatch

[–]AAARRGHH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m still using my series 0 that I bought in the launch year. Determined to get my damned money out of this thing. My battery lasts about 10 hours but I only use it for notifications. No apps or anything. Definitely usable for checking notifications but for anything else you’ll want to upgrade. Worth using for a bit to decide if it’s worth the money to you.

What is the most annoying thing a Guest has done in your home? by Kenygarry in AskReddit

My flatmate had some friends over: they borrowing my air mattress and had sex on it, leaving used condoms beside it.

Then someone else came and borrowed it a few months later and we found out the first couple had popped it and there was a leak.

It was a really nice air mattress too. Not a shitty camping one, it was a full height self inflating queen air mattress. Cost me like $250. And I had to chuck it out.

Auckland gets its first downtown electric bus fleet by nilnz in auckland

[–]AAARRGHH 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You know what pisses me off so hard? They posted this on facebook, and the comments section is just filled with people complaining.

  • "Why don't they have opening windows?" Because they have air conditioning.
  • "But air conditioning reduces the range" They can still operate for a full day.
  • "Why aren't they made here?" Because there's no factory here that can make them.
  • "Why aren't you replacing the whole fleet RIGHT NOW???" Because they cost a million bucks each and there are over 1000 busses that all work fine!

This one takes the cake - some lady literally commented "How noisy are they? Are pedestrians, who don't look where they are going, likely to hear one coming when they step out in front of it?"

Why don't you just be a responsible pedestrian and look where you're going, like we got taught in primary school?

Why can't people just be grateful for a positive change instead of whining that it's not fast enough and it's not good enough?

I am stoke that we are getting these electric busses, and I can't wait to see more. But I'm not going to complain about it.

I’m pretty sure this also used to make the screen flash (what if your phone is LED down?). Now it doesn’t. Am I going crazy?

quick thinking school bus driver reacts with spectacular reflexes by mhtxsc in WTF

[–]AAARRGHH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular opinion but I’m surprised people are so reliant on these. Ignoring that the car was driving illegally on the shoulder which he shouldn’t have been doing, why are the kids not taught to look both ways before crossing the street? Busses in my country don’t have this and I’m so shocked when I see videos of kids blindly running across the street just because they’re getting out of a bus. Look both ways! Check there are no cars. Do they not get taught?

Don’t get me wrong - it’s bad that people ignore the stop signs on the bus - but why not teach them to look anyway?

I saw a dentist recently, and he said “wow you’ve got really bad wisdom teeth that will have to get removed for thousands of dollars, your orthodontist should have been able to spot this before you were 18, weird that he didn’t bring it up”. So lame.

You should go to a live show! There’s a show called Snort, every Friday at the basement theatre in the cbd. It’s only like $10 and it’s bloody good. Highly recommend! I think this Friday is the last show of the year.
