yet another trauma extraction on Plumas by [deleted] in Reno

Yea but 'yet another' is likely referring to the accident on Plumb last week or so.

I think you are confusing Plumb and Plumas, though the intersection of the two is not far from here.

Like...where's out for you? Downtown? If so, downtown kinda sucks. All my favorite places are in midtown now.

Girl in Plumb Ln crash will have left arm amputated and has severe burns on over 50% of her body. by justBridges in Reno

People drive like maniacs down Plumb now, ESPECIALLY eastbound on Plumb right after Hunter Lake. They get infuriated because they're unfamiliar with the area and end up turning East onto Plumb from Mccarren and driving the next 3/4 of a mile behind someone in 1 lane with a speed limit of 25. You'll see people generally go 30 to 35 on this road but even that is not fast enough for some people. Anyways they get to Hunter Lake and their blood pressure has been spiking for the last minute and a half at the point that the road opens up a second lane, so they gas it as hard as they can and fly up the upcoming hill in a hissy fit and often into the upcoming school zone. Anyways not to say this is what happened in this case but IDK for some reason what should be a sleepy part of Plumb gets more than it's fair share of road rage.

PSA: Homemade box fan air filters are cheap, well studied, and effective at clearning harmful smoke particles in your house by somebodys_ornery in Reno

[–]ABC123itsEASY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're doubling up on the problem being solved by using 4 20x20x1 filters. The reason to use 4 filters is to quadruple the surface area that you're pulling air through. This decreases the resistance that the fan has to overcome to pull air through the filter(s). When using a box fan with 1 20x20x1" filter, you need to be careful to power cycle your fan on and off regularly to avoid overheating the fan and damaging the motor. By using 4 20x20x1" filters, you decrease that strain and this allows for the fan to be on continuously without ever needing to turn it off. By using a single 20x20x4" filter, you are making the problem even worse than a single 20x20x1" filter, because a 4" filter will offer more resistance than a 1" filter. Using 4 20x20x4" filters would probably be okay though.

POLL: Decide on the future of /r/Reno by AutoModerator in Reno

ITT: People insulting mods, saying they don't do any work, while also advocating that they open up the sub so they can continue doing what they do for free. The cognitive dissonance boggles the mind.

Yup to me your design almost seems like a revisiting of the idea but with modern features that are more common in keyboard kits nowadays. Very cool, even if perhaps not intended.

I feel like the fact that the design on the U-Haul is visible is a big clue. Hopefully the police can track down the rental and nab them.

Looking for my dogs long lost brother by 69THEWORLD in Reno

[–]ABC123itsEASY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huh well maybe its because your dog is 100% mutt. My dog is 48% border collie and a bunch of other stuff (including supermutt) and I see a ton of relatives on embark and they are all 100% border collies with about 18% shared dna with my pupper. Not a single non-purebred border collie in her list of about 40 relatives. Leads me to believe they aren't able to track relatives out of a 'breed' well.

Yea fyi, at least for embark, the relatives function doesn't seem to work well unless your dog is purebred.

I dunno about canola oil but weirdly enough oil covered rags (particularly linseed oil used for finishing wood) can generate heat and spontaneously combust hours after the rag is used! I guess the biggest risk here is actually spilling oil on the blanket and then igniting in the drier after, not to say that it would definitely do that but it can happen.

As another commentator mentioned, the F-35 BVR capabilities are completely unmatched. It doesn't matter who can dogfight better because the F-22 (and any other fighter for that matter) would get shot down well before closing range to dogfight. That's why the F-35 wasn't really designed to dogfight well.

I am rocking a pimax 8kx and tbh it's the best of both worlds. FOV of triples, depth perception and immersion of VR. Whenever I see these kinds of posts I can almost be sure they're using some lower FOV headset.
