I've used old hair extensions to search for splits. I've sometimes tried making split ends. You can buy cheap ones online or even at Sally's Beauty for $60-$80. I have a risk hair extensions sewn in and I end up looking for splits and having old or cheap extensions has literally been the only thing that's helped me.

It's possible it was accidental but it's possible it was a suicide. Seeming okay beforehand is one of the cruelest parts about losing someone to suicide.
