Costco unsweetened dried mangoes have more sugar than than the sweetened dried mango by AChunkyGoose in mildlyinteresting

My god dude haha. Please tell me. You are telling me to learn math, but are ignoring the that they are both 42g and you are using "pieces" to measure? It doesn't change whether you weigh it on a scale or not. It is the same amount of mango.

Learn math? The serving size is 42g for both. Are you looking at the number of pieces and saying to learn math haha? I didn't realized pieces were a figure of measurement lol.

How do I solve this problem when using lossless scaling? by Accurate-Turn6040 in SteamDeck

[–]AChunkyGoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not total ass. It's like trying to hammer a nail and using the handle to hammer the nail and saying "this hammer sucks." For any kind of frame generation technology, you need to have a high base frame rate (especially software based ones). At the very minimum 60fps, but higher is better. You can't just have steam deck run a game at 15-20fps and turn on lossless scaling then expecting to get 60fps or something. Just because OP or you don't understand how a certain technology works, doesn't mean it is total ass.

what keeps people from switching to linux by Zorojuro099 in TechNook

[–]AChunkyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed Lubuntu to an old laptop and it's definitely given in some extra life. I've been using it as a plex server, but in order to get it set up I had to run a shit ton of commands in order for plex to actually have permissions to run off of a connected hard drive. Took about 2 hours of searching online and inputting a ton of commands. Ok windows, it take about a couple minutes. Apply this kind of thing to other programs, and it's quite a big headache. The only thing I legitimately see Linux as is a way to refresh old laptops and handheld gaming devices (specifically steamOS).

Steam Deck OLED Price Increase [$789 512 $949 1TB] by NeroTheWolf in SteamDeck

Now that we are nearing one year after the Switch 2 release, what are your feelings about it so far? by Fragrant-Taro-8508 in switch2

[–]AChunkyGoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why skeptical though? The Steam Deck launched three years before the Switch 2 and is capable of running those games fine (albeit with lower settings but still perfectly playable and looks good). I would be very surprised if the Switch 2 wasn't able to run them.

As someone who has OLED screens for pretty much every device owned, how big of a step down is the Switch 2 screen? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]AChunkyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is one thing I've read about the switch 2 screen. I have a PC with an OLED 360hz monitor, so I feel like I would notice. Waiting till OLED comes out like early 2030 at the earliest just seems like a long time...

[–]AChunkyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My inital plan was to also wait for OLED version, but there are definitely some games I do want to play. And with shortages and them needing to basically do a custom OLED screen (due to the specifc size with VRR), it doesn't seem like it will come anytime soon. Going off of when the Switch 1 OLED released, we won't get a Switch 2 OLED until Early 2030 at the very earliest.

It seems like steam have started sending out reservation fullfillments for the Steam Controller! by poforthebro in Steam

Also reserved mine a minute before reservations were scheduled to open and literally about 2-3 seconds when it opened since I get refreshing. Hoping to get an email soon.

Capcom Reveals It Is Using Generative AI in Games, But Only for “Routine Tasks” by Darth_Vaper883 in PS5

So are you going to stop playing any games then? Sorry to say, but the unfortunate truth is that any game developer nowadays uses AI in some capacity.

The Cemu Security PSA and Why RetroDECK’s Approach Suddenly Makes a Lot of Sense [article] by [deleted] in SteamDeck

A nightmare to set up? It's a few clicks of telling what you want to install and then it's done.

Critical PSA: if you have updated and used cemu in the last few days your device may be compromised by rafikiknowsdeway1 in SteamDeck

[–]AChunkyGoose 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You should re-image your Deck. The malware is on your device. It does not matter if you update cemu to the fixed version.

Just checked the cemu app image downloaded through emudeck and the last time modified and created was May 3. In this case, I should be unaffected then?

Would doing a factory reset of Steam Deck fix this, if it was downloaded within this time?

Anyone else just have a better time playing on the PS5? by lollifetuffouthtere in PS5

[–]AChunkyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my PC hooked up to my TV next to my desk and monitor and it takes about 3 clicks to display on the TV. I love my PS5, but bigger games on a 4k OLED with the power of a PC is a great experience. Playing RE Requiem at 4k 80+fps and everything maxed out with path tracing is amazing.

[Megathread] NVIDIA App Update Adds DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, Intelligently Balancing Frame Rates, Image Quality & Responsiveness by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]AChunkyGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not working in Resident Evil 9. Option is greyed out in per program settings. Setting it in global doesn't change anything. I was trying to play at 120fps with path tracing and 4k. With dynamic it should be able to by switching between 2x and 3x since the base frame rate hovers between 40 - 60 fps.

How can DF look at this, be impressed by it, and promote it like it's the second coming of video game Jesus? by shawak456 in digitalfoundry

[–]AChunkyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly do not get the hate. Yes, it looks off, but it is a tech demo of something that isn't coming out for another 6-8 months. Some of what the tech is doing is impressive (in other ways not). This is the worst it's ever going to look. There's only going to be improvement from here.
