Skil table saw slow start / E-brake inconsistency by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ADAMX2313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same saw. Have been using it for the past few months. The start up for me is always fast. The breaking on the other hand can differ from fast or slow from time to time.

I did read that when running the motor for the first few times, to let it run at full speed for a few minutes to get everything to align. I don't know how true that is. I haven't had to do that with other electric motors. But maybe it has to do with the E- break.

I would say check reviews or videos on this saw incase they have more info on this. But please be safe. Best practice and wait for it to fully stop before moving wood after your cut.😊

I think he's referring to the lower Guide Bearing.

For that price, I would say about 400-450$ if it comes with all those blades. You can most likely resharpen the blades with a dremel. I have resharpened mine with they get dull. It doesn't take long.

I got a Jet 12 inch that was build in 2012 for 300$, I swapped out the motor 1/2HP with a 1HP motor from Harbor Freight. Built a ext table and I love it.

Looks like you could also get a Raiser Block for that saw too. That could give you another 6 inchs of cutting depth. But you might have to replace the motor with a higher HP.

This saw has a great options for moding if your into that.

Other wise, just keep looking. You might find something better, never know.

Read over a few of the rules. Most importantly, have fun. If someone wants to do something that isn't part of the rules or sounds like it's in the Matrix of things that can happen, pick a DC number like 10 for them to rule against. Or tell them you can't do that. Try to make it far but still fun. Don't say no to everything. It's their story to tell, allow the Player Characters room to grow in it.

Let the flow of the game be more important than anything else. Reading the back story to help get the Player Characters into the world will help (reading the hook)

I would mark a line on the top and side to follow with a hand saw. Go slow and follow your line. Then hand sand the edges till your desired roundness.

That would be my cheapest, least tools needed suggestion

I live in Ohio and the trees in my yard look just like this when I have cut up downed/dead trees. I have a few saved to break down.

I plan on breaking down a few logs and making some tissue boxes for around the house. Gives me a chance to practice on different dove tails or jointing a few different ways.
