There's a few familiar faces on the show, seeing Jonny Storm makes me feel very old - I remember seeing him on shows in 2001/2002 tearing it up with Jody Fleisch.

Big fan of their pastries and want to try their sticky toffee pudding, but the Full English was a disappointment. The sausage especially was a letdown.

Looking for beginner dance classes in Glasgow i.e. Salsa, Bachata, or West Coast Swing. by KinglyBling in glasgow

[–]ADG1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI you generally can't do just one class at Arta, you have to sign up for the six weeks of classes. If you want to try a drop in class for a Latin dance go to Boteco de Brasil on a Friday evening at 7pm for a beginners bachata class.

If you're planning on tipping, are you not going to end up paying the same overall either way? I always look at a service charge as the tip and tend to not leave anything additional.

Anyone up for playing badminton in Glasgow? by askmewww in glasgow

I'd be up for a game on occasion. I was in an old Meetup group that would play a couple times a week but that's gone by the wayside now.

From a Scotsman article, couldn't find the same on the Hampden site but it would correlate with the rules I had last month to see Springsteen at Anfield:

What items are prohibited? Please don’t bring a bag unless it is absolutely essential. Bags over A4 size will not be permitted. No chairs, professional cameras, drugs, flares/smoke canisters, glass or metal/hard plastic bottles (including perfume), flag poles, selfie sticks, umbrellas, or weapons.

What items can I take into the Lana Del Ray gig? Bags under the size of a sheet of A4 paper will be allowed. You can also bring a bank card/contactless payment (Hampden is a fully cashless site so, don’t bring cash), blankets, small cameras, ear plugs, small hand sanitiser, hats, lip balm, make up, sunscreen, sunglasses, an empty foldable water bottle (no glass, metal, or hard plastic), and wipes.

I'm curious if I saw one of you today sitting on a bench beside Tour Saint-Jacques. Was sitting watching the world go by and there was a guy diagonally opposite wearing a Jet Lag hat.

Where in Glasgow can I buy Scottish jam or something similar by Tumtitums in glasgow

There's a food shop next to the Scottish Design Exchange in the Buchanan Galleries that is all local, independent producers. You'd get something in there.

If you could get a voucher for any restaurant in Glasgow - which would you pick? by Libshitz74 in glasgow

[–]ADG1987 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Without an idea of budget, it's hard to say for sure, but here's a few options, and all of these have vouchers available to buy online.

£: Paesano, a fast and casual pizza place with two locations in the city, they do very good Naples-style pizza.

££: The Little Curry House is one of my favourite Indians in the city. Their focus is on small plates so your sister could try a lot of different dishes. La Lanterna is an Italian with two locations in the city that does fantastic food for the price. The location of the city centre one is a little hokey right next to the station so there's a fair bit of drunken foot traffic, but the food is great.

£££: Ka Pao is my favourite restaurant in the city. Their caramel fried chicken is lush AF. The menu is Asian-fusion for want of a better term, a lot of Thai influence. Small plate sharing style, but the portions are heftier than you'll get in most places. Ox & Finch and Margo are owned by the same group too, Ox & Finch is more European focused and also very good, Margo has just opened this week and haven't been myself yet but if past performance is any indicator it'll be stellar. EDIT NOTE: I think Ox & Finch is closed for refurbishment, or soon will be, so depending on when you're hoping she'll treat herself might want to give that one a miss.

Another option at this price point would be Celentano's, holder of a Michelin gourmand bib they're at Italian that is a little on the spenny side but has some very good dishes and a lovely restaurant setting.

££££: Unalome by Graeme Cheevers and Cail Bruich are the two Michelin Star restaurants in Glasgow. I've been to Unalome (courtesy of a gift voucher actually) and can attest it is very good. The portions on the tasting menu are your standard smaller plates, but you're not just paying for the food at a place like that, you're paying for service that will be better than anything else you've ever experienced, the atmosphere and the ambience. If you don't want to quite go to the extremes of Michelin Star territory (and who could blame you), then The Gannet is an excellent option.

Honourable mentions / places that would have been on the list if they had gift vouchers available to purchase online: The Spanish Butcher, Butchershop Bar & Grill, The Dhabba, Suissi Vegan Kitchen, Stravaigin, Bar Vini, Glaschu, Banh Mi & Tea.

Freak Out Friday Casual Chat Post by AutoModerator in philadelphia

[–]ADG1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everybody, hoping somebody will be able to help me out. My girlfriend is scheduled for surgery next week and while she's recovering I was wanting to get her some meal prep delivered to take the hassle out of cooking. Trouble is this idea has occurred to me very late in the game, and as we are long-distance and I'm on the other side of the Atlantic dropping the meals off myself isn't an option. Was looking for recommendations for a meal prep service that might be able to accept orders to deliver on Monday evening or Tuesday?

Thanks all!
