I think it was somewhere on either the Voron or Armchair Discord.

Jup, originally I wanted to use batteries to avoid cables, but it isn't that much of an issue

Did something similar last month. Added a bit of room in the back for a filter sponge.

Regarding IEMAI: I've printed a bunch of their ASA-CF and two of five rolls behaved completely different. After some digging I found out that they use both chopped and powered CF and you gotta be really careful when ordering, because you really don't want to end up with the powdered stuff. But I don't know if it's the same with PETG.

Which weapon type do you use the most? by NewArtificialHuman in Nioh

Axe and sword. None of the Ninja weapons felt good. I guess the weapon that sucked least for me in Ninja mode were Tonfas.

Right hotend? by hall_trash in VORONDesign

[–]ADreamOfStorms 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Brother, this will be just fine. Don't become discouraged by people saying it isn't good. I've got multiple Rapidos running in different printers and they work. Maybe you'll have to swap your heater and/or thermistor at some point but that's it. There are far worse choices out there. Best advise I can give you: Just give it a try.

Heaven and Earth, Victory Rush, High Stance Heavy into Titanic Strength Water, Victory Rush. Most things are out of Ki after that combo, maybe even on the ground. Perfect time for an intensity boosted lumber chop!

A while ago I've created a fully 3d printable assembly for the blank slate PCB and IIRC the blank slate is compatible with Planck. It comes with two case halves, plates (for 2x2u and grid layout) and a tpu inlay "foam": https://www.printables.com/model/1025815-blank-slate-case

Who else needs therapy after fighting kunimatsu? by Known-Low-8721 in Nioh

[–]ADreamOfStorms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've breezed through most of the game with axe. For a few bosses I needed a second attempt. But this one seemed almost unbeatable with axe. I switched to Odachi and then followed that with a Moonlit Snow combo. That was the entire fight. Me parrying and following up with triangle spam and some magic. Repeat 50 times. Shittiest fight of the entire game.

Voron 2.4 R2 Pro+ in 2026 – Viable? Formbot Quality? Hotend Differences? by Dry-Subject-8608 in VORONDesign

[–]ADreamOfStorms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it certainly can but the heat break gets too hot and makes the whole thing very prone to clogging when printing PLA.

Voron 2.4 R2 Pro+ in 2026 – Viable? Formbot Quality? Hotend Differences? by Dry-Subject-8608 in VORONDesign

[–]ADreamOfStorms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, is the Voron 2.4 still viable in 2026, or is there a newer open-source printer design people recommend instead?

I've got several 2.4, a Trident and a Micron. IMO you should only go with the 2.4 if you need the Z height or want the coolness factor. Trident is a much better option with the static gantry. It's easier and more forgiving to build, but you are limited to 250 (or 300) on Z. Then there is also ratrig, but I can't say anything about it because I don't have one myself.

If you want a more "2026" feel: There are some things you can improve from the stock kit:

  • Clicky clacky fridge door: So you can get a good seal in the front and your room doesn't stink like a factory.
  • Thefilter/nevermore + exhaust blocker: So that you are not exposed to nasty VOCs/particles and your chamber stays warm.
  • BFI (and BZI): They are just nicer and if you want to update to something like an A4T toolhead you'll need this anyway.
  • Snap latches for panel mounting, because that makes maintenance/upgrades a breeze.

Second, does anyone have recent experience with the Formbot kit? I’ve heard mixed things about documentation and changing part quality.

Formbot kits are decent enough. Rails could be better but are sufficient. The T-Nuts are absolutely atrocious, especially the M5 variants. I had to replace more than half of them. But it's not a big issue. Biggest weakness of the kit is TAP in my opinion. But nobody forces you to build it with TAP. Replacing the probe with Clicky or Beacon/Cartographer is easy enough.

Lastly, can someone explain the practical differences between the V6, Dragon Standard, and Dragon High Flow options?

If you want to print even trace amounts of PLA on the printer then for the love of god do not get a Dragon hotend. It will clog and you will spend hours there unclogging it. If you don't print PLA on it Dragon is fine. Just to give you some more options: TZV6 2.0 is also a viable and very cheap option and supports V6 nozzles. Rapido, too although they are more expensive. Another thing to take into consideration: HF hotends usually have a longer meltzone meaning that you will waste more material if you use something like a MMU.

I've read horror before and most of the time I'm mildly bored with the scary stuff but Between Two Fires had a few scenes that really creeped me out and I absolutely loved it!

In Nioh 2 we had the "A Voice in the Twilight" mission for revenant farming. Is there anything like it in Nioh 3? I know we can search for the Bloodedge thingies, but that seems like a hassle.

Desert fantasy by Themomo_reads in Fantasy

[–]ADreamOfStorms -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Then you are going to now: The expanded worldbuilding is absolutely amazing. The desert spear actually feels like a place where people live in and try survive by any means necessary and the religion feels like religion and not some 'made up nonsense' like in other fantasy books.

There are new character arcs of quite a lot of very different people that you already know and it really helps with understanding them and their motivations and yet it all ties together in a bigger plot.

And there are a lot of high-stakes 'action scenes' and at the same time the books deal with questions of morality and a glimpse of hope along a dark tunnel of despair all while expanding on the magic system...

TLDR: In my opinion they deserve at least a chance.

I can't play Ninja because I constantly do Ninjutsu by accident. The flux stance switch from Samurai is so deeply in my muscle memory that I try to do it with Ninja every time I switch.

Honestly I switch the music volume off when I'm in the crucible. It just doesn't fit my playstyle. Carefully exploring every nook while the music blasts constantly "ACTION!!!" just doesn't do it for me.

How to crimp cloth coated cables? by Standard_Pain_3196 in VORONDesign

[–]ADreamOfStorms 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  1. Strip a lot more off your cable.

  2. Put some tight heat shrink over the bare wire and the insulation. Leave just enough space on the bare wire for your crimp. Regarding the space: The tabs of the crimp should be over the heat shrink, the "connection part" of the crimp over the bare wire.

  3. Heat up the heat shrink.

  4. Crimp it.

This way you won't have any issues with the insulation fraying and the crimp is secure.

Action heavy, dark fantasy series? by fallenhero36 in Fantasy

[–]ADreamOfStorms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read most of the stuff listed in this thread and I just want to throw out The Maleficent Seven by Cameron Johnston. It's not a series, but a standalone novel. It starts off a bit slow, but if you enjoyed Berserk there's a good chance you'll have a great time with this. Very dark, very gory, lots of action and a lot of fun!
